Sitting at the edge of my window crook, I held the phone up to my ear as Caroline was on the other line.
"Yeah, I'll try," I whispered.
"Scar! Breakfast is ready!" Sebastian yelled form the first floor.
"Coming!"
Hanging up the phone, I throw on a striped long sleeve, and a tan buttoned down skirt, I shake my hair out from the wet towel and quickly applying makeup before heading downstairs to a table full of food.
"Whoa...is it someone's birthday?" I asked, bending down to grab a blood bag from the counter.
"Yes, it is." My mother whispered.
"So, how old are you know?" I chuckled looking over at James, who was setting the plates.
"What do you mean?"
"...Who's birthday is it then?" I asked glancing back and forth at everyone in the room.
"It's yours." My father said.
Looking over at my mother, she smiled shyly before grabbing the bacon strips from the frying pan.
"My birthday was two months ago?"
"Well, we didn't get to spend it with you...everyone that you cared about didn't spend it with you because you were too busy reading Grimoires." She added.
"So, we're going to do this again?" I asked.
"Yes. Sit down, you don't have much time to eat, you only have 20 minutes."
Grabbing a seat beside Sebastian, the six of us enjoyed breakfast like a normal family. For the first time in a long time, I didn't have to wake up to an empty house, followed by old antique statues and wooden furniture.
"I'll see you later," I said, grabbing my bag from the foyer and heading out to my car.

Turning into the school parking lot, I found a parking space in front of a picnic table just underneath a shady tree in the middle of fall.
Sitting inside for a few minutes, I watched as some students walked by before I noticed Tyler waiting by the tables for me.
"...I know you're probably upset with me." Tyler whispered.
"Upset? You almost got Jeremy killed, Ty."
"It was-"
"I get it, okay? We're both sired to Klaus in some way, but if I can find a way not to do his work for him, so can you."
"There's nothing that I can do about it, Lauren. The sire that you have with Klaus, is different than mine, yours probably wore off by now." He whispered.
"I just...I wanted you to know that...I understand why you can't be with me. Even though I want to put you first, before anyone...I can't. I'll never be able to." Tyler said as I could see his eyes start to turn reddish.
"...And I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I just wanted you to know that."
"I'm sorry, too," I whispered, as I watched him pull something out of his pocket after.
Holding it in his hands, he grabbed mine and placed the small black pouch in my palm.
"Happy Birthday..." He whispered, before walking into the building.
Taking a deep breath, trying to hold everything together. I spread the small opening and grabbed the silver bracelet inside. Dozens of charms were dangling around loops, making small noises as they hit against each other.
