Leaning on the drivers' side door, I waited a few blocks away from Klaus' apartment for Rebekah who was having a family meeting with Klaus and Elijah, who had tagged along on her way back to Mystic Falls.
Arms crossed and partially still pissed off from last night, I stared down at the white concrete thinking about what my father had said, trying to forget all about the cure Katherine had hidden in my room.
"Was it really necessary to park so far away from Niklaus' apartment?" Rebekah hissed, heading for the passenger door.
"I wasn't in the mood to be love gazed by your brother today. Why did you call?"
"It's about the trip...and the cure."
Feeling my stomach tighten suddenly, I opened my door as calmly as possible before adding into the line of cars heading out of town.
"So, what happened?" I asked.
"We found Katherine just outside of New York, we asked a few questions and got no answers."
"Why was she in New York?"
"Take a wild guess?"
Focusing on the road, I couldn't exactly turn to look at the smirk on Rebekah's face but I could feel her waiting.
"She sold it?"
"No...she was working with Elijah this entire time. Who ended up being the little pawn that would negotiate peace with her and Klaus." She hissed.
"After 500 years you would think Katherine would've gotten bored. Your brother seemed to had moved on."
"That's not the worst of it...she never had it to begin with. Elena and I were in this wild goose chase, only to have me faint after I took the fake cure she had hidden in a fish tank."
"Wait, what?" I blurted out, stepping on the brake.
"I was desperate...and Damon didn't stop me from doing it."
"Why would you do something so stupid? And why were you not with Damon in the first place?" I asked.
"You know I've always wanted to be human, it was my chance. And Damon, well...he just got in the way so Elena snapped his neck before stealing Katherine's last whereabouts he had written down."
"Jesus..."
Taking the first exit that leads into the next large town, I slowed down a bit as Police were stopping people.
"Can you roll down your window Ms..." The officer asked me.
"Is something wrong, Officer?"
"Yes, there's been a missing person report on a young lady from Atlanta. She was with her family when they stopped by a small town, can I ask where you girls are coming from?"
"Um...Mystic Falls. We just came in last night from a trip to New York, we haven't heard about it in the news?"
"Well, we're trying to keep it on the low as possible, we don't want people freaking out about this."
"Do you know what she looked like? Maybe we can share it with some of our friends." I asked, faking a worried tone.
Handing me one of the fliers in his hands, I gave it to Rebekah.
"Are you two girls going into Atlanta?" He added.
"Yeah, Prom is tomorrow...just doing some last-minute shopping."
"Oh, okay. Well, you girls stay safe of there."
"Thanks, have a nice day officer." I smiled, slowly driving away before crunching the flier into a ball.
