Staring out the window of Damon's car, I lifted my head to see out the window and what I saw took my breath away. The buildings above me were alive with light like someone had taken a handful of glitter and throne it as far as the eye could see. People scattered all along the streets in pairs as loud music was bursting out the doors.

"And here we are...New York City." Damon smiled parking just a few blocks away from Times Square.

"Now ladies-"

"Please tell me you didn't bring us here to lecture us." I sighed, stretching my arms and legs once we had gotten out of the car.

"No, I dragged you here because in a matter of 3 days you two managed to piss off everyone in Mystic Falls. A little more difficult to do in a city of millions." He added, glancing back and forth at Elena and me.

"The town should be thanking me, okay. I killed someone who deserved to die."

"Yeah...right after you seduced him." He said sarcastically.

"Please, as if you've never played that card." Watching the look on his face changed.

"Look, all that matters is that when I lived here I fed like crazy and had a blast, I went undetected for years." He said to Elena, as we headed down the street.

"So, we're just here to have fun?"

"What's the catch?" I asked.

"There's no catch. You two can't feed on people at Mystic Falls, so I figured a little trip would do the trick. Plus, there's so much life here, that a little death goes unnoticed."

Finally standing at the end of the block where all the billboards and neon signs flashed, it was packed with life and energy that faces seemed to disappear one second and appear the next.

"Come on...let's go grab lunch," Damon said, heading into the crowd first.

Stefan's POV

"What do you mean you took them to New York?" I yelled on the phone.

'And that tone is the reason I didn't pick up the phone the first 20 times you called.'

"Where are they now?"

Pacing myself in the uncleaned living room from the party Elena threw last night, I kicked over beer cans and plastic cups out of my way.

'Out exploring. Maybe eating a hot dog...vendor.'

"This isn't funny, Damon." I hissed.

'I know it's not, but it's better than the two of them feeding in town. And look on the bright side, now New Yorkers will have more people to populate with.'

"Don't give Lauren any ideas or you'll be the one cleaning up her mess..."

'You said it yourself, she has her powers...what makes you think she won't just poof them out of the country and into the Atlantic ocean.'

Stress pouring myself and a full cup of bourbon, I plopped onto the couch with my feet up on the table.

"So, I take it your search for Katherine is off?"

'Relax, man. This little joy ride is a cure hunt.'

"How are you going to find the cure if Elena and Lauren are with you?"

'I brought Lauren because I know Katherine checks up on her, and Elena, well...if I find the cure I'll shove it down her throat when she's not looking.'

"She'll run if she finds out, you know that right?" I said.

'That's why I brought her a friend. That vampire that Katherine sent after Hayley is a friend of mine. He lived in the city. Will gets vampires fake identities, and I'm sure that Katherine's one of his clients.'
