"I say we go to Pearl's, bust down the door, and annihilate the idiot that attacked us last night," Damon said as he hammered the window shut with plywood.
"Yeah. And then what? We turn to the rest of that house of vampires and say, 'Oops. Sorry?'" Stefan said sarcastically.
Coming back into the living room, I handed Elena a cup of coffee as I walked around the couch as sat down.
"I can't believe you made a deal with her," Elena said.
"It was more like a helpful exchange of information. And it was not like I had a choice. She's...scary." Damon whispered.
"And Damon's stupid. He tried to fight a 400-year-old vampire." I blurted out.
"Oh, you did nothing but watched. Besides, she's gonna help me get Katherine back." He added.
"Of course she is. Damon gets what he wants, as usual. No matter who he hurt in the process."
"You don't have to be snarky about it," Damon whispered to Elena.
"I woke up this morning to learn that all the vampires have been released from the tomb, I've earned snarky." Elena hissed.
"How long are you going to blame me for turning your birth mother into a vampire?"
"I'm not blaming you, Damon. I've accepted the fact that you're a self-serving psychopath with no redeeming qualities."
"Ouch." He sighed.
"This isn't being very productive. We're gonna figure out a way to deal with Pearl and the vampires. Yeah?" Stefan said, stepping in between them.
Watching Damon get up from his chair, he walked around Elena and Stefan before leaving the room.
"I'm sorry, he just makes me so cranky."
"Don't worry, he makes everybody cranky," I added, finishing my coffee.
"So what are we gonna do?" She asked Stefan.
"Damon and I are gonna handle everything, I promise. Lauren's going to be here with you in the meantime because that's what going to keep you safe."
"Which means nothing if you're not safe, too," Elena whispered
"What you do mean? I'm perfectly safe. I have Damon, the self-serving psychopath on my side, and my art-loving, very quiet and mysterious supernatural creature by my side." Stefan said as I raised my glass to a toast.
"Well, that's comforting."
"Well, I have to go do something before we head over to Pearl's house." I blurted out, trying to fight through the awkward sexual tension.
"Where is that exactly?" Stefan asked.
"Deep in my dark artistic soul," I said, heading up the stairs.
Changing out of my clothes, I grabbed some black jeans, a cropped red sweater, a gray scarf and my winter boots before heading to the car.
"Hey..." I whispered to Matt.
"What are you doing here?" He chuckled softly.
"I came to tell you that I'm heading out of town for the day, so we can't hang out after work. My brothers want to do this hunting thing? 'Family bonding', is what Damon is calling it." I whispered, bringing up my quotation marks.
"That's too bad because I actually planned out a very romantic evening?"
"Is that so..." I smiled, leaning against the counter behind me.
