Standing in front of my mirror, I tied the back of my corset as tightly as I could before reaching down to my ankles and pull up a tulle skirt with a crinoline underneath before attaching it over my corset.
Brushing the tan tulle around me, I glanced up at the mirror and noticed the swooping neckline that rested just under my neck and over my shoulders. A large thick ribbon ran in zigzag lines down at the bottom of my dress, followed by small beaded flowers in the corners.
"Hey, were about to head out!" Damon yelled from the living room.
"I'm going!"
Running to my end table, I grabbed the neck out from the small box before running down the stairs.
"Finally, I thought I would have to..."
Stepping into the foyer, I glanced up at Damon and Stefan who stood in the living room.
"You, um...you look-"
"I feel so old keeping this dress..." I whispered, flicking off some dust around my shoulder.
"That was mom's dress wasn't it?" Stefan asked.
"Yeah...she gave it to me for Christmas, just before she left."
"Well, you look beautiful. We should really go." Damon said rather quickly, heading out the door first.
"What's his problem?" I whispered to Stefan who escorted me out the door.
"I have no idea."

Heading out of the car, Stefan and I went our ways, followed by Damon who wandered around.
"Hey." I heard someone say behind me.
"Oh, wow! You look handsome." I said to Matt, who was dressed in a suit and tie, along with the white cast.
"Do you like my accessory?" He said, pulling back his sleeve.
"Modern..." I chuckled.
Kissing his lips, there was a scream coming from behind us, which alarmed me.
"What was that?" I said, tearing my lips from his and turning around.
"You look amazing, Lauren! You really captured the 1860's feel..." Caroline said as she came up behind me with Tyler, who was dressed as a Confederate soldier.
"You look beautiful, Caroline," I whispered, hugging her.
"Thanks. Oh, by the way. We need to get up on the float a few minutes before so we can take a picture."
"Okay, sure."
"Let's take a picture, I want to put this on my wall." She blurted out, standing by Matt's said.
"Say cheese," Tyler whispered as he held the camera.
SMiling at the camera, Caroline was called away by Mrs. Lockwood, leaving the three of us alone in an awkward tension.
"I'm going to go say hi to the football guys, I'll see you at the float?" Matt whispered before kissing my cheek.
"Bye," I said, as I watched him leave.
"Let me guess, it didn't work. Did it." I said, glancing over at Tyler, who held the play gun in his hands.
"He kicked me out right after you left."
"Well, I tried," I whispered, walking over to him.
Holding the necklace between my fingers, I opened my palm to see the lotus flower.
