(CHARA POV)[F]

"I didn't know what to think after you left me that note. I thought I might have been dreaming but even after a few days it was still there." She said with a tinge of sadness. The sound of her voice enveloped me like a warm hug. I didn't ever want to leave it's warm embrace.

"Hm." I stepped towards the edge of the flowers, to a thin creek. The water was unusually still. As she walked behind me, I saw her reflection in the water. Mom was very clearly a Boss Monster. Her robes bore the Delta Rune, she looked like the goats of the Royal Family, she was 8 feet tall, I mean, if that's not a Boss Monster, what is? She had this smile that was always up in her eyes, and her Ruby eyes looked tired.

"My child?" She put her large hand on my shoulder.

"Heh." I let go of the buttercup, it turned into sparks of red electricity before it could even hit the ground. "You know, you can do a lot of things before you actually get to me. Talking about my past is one thing, threatening my Girlfriend is another. But no one. And I mean No one. Insults my mother." I turned around and punched her in the face as hard as I could. Except it wasn't my mom that hit the ground. It was Diitii Fox.

His Fox ears perked up, he brushed his copper-red hair out of his handsome face (which now had a huge welt on the left cheek), and he dusted his kimono off.

"Aww, what gave it away?" His unsettlingly charming voice was deep, but harsh underneath his facade.

"My Mom doesn't have red eyes."

"Well, I guess I'll do it bet—"

"How dare you insult her by taking her form?"

"Well actually, you only projected her onto me." I don't know if it was just my seething rage making my memory foggy, but somehow, out of nowhere I had grabbed the last gift I'd received during my short life. The Dust-Forged Riel Knife. I pointed at his throat, and with a flash of purple light, the blade had extended greatly, almost touching him.

"Explain." Purple wires seemed to line the area.

"Well for starters," he suddenly was upright, walking around the room. "You're only seeing what you want to see. That's how much power you have over this place."

"What do you mean, only what I want to see?"

"The whole 'coming back here to see Ms. Dreemurr- er, your mom again. But when you realized it wasn't her," he put his hands on my shoulders from behind me. "You obviously thought it had to be Diitii Fox."

"You're speaking like you aren't Diitii Fox." A devilish grin grew on his face.

"I'm not." The purple wires seemed to snap as the world fell apart. The world was black, if only for an instant. And suddenly, I was in the private hot-springs. Where Diitii was, Frisk stood. Wearing nothing but a bikini. "This is different."

"Gah! I'm sorry!" I tried to look away. She just paced the room looking deep in thought.

"Of course, if it's not Diitii Fox messing with your mind, then this must be a dream. And so this is the kind of dream you wanted."

"But you aren't— I don't want— how do I change it?! Who even are you?!" The person pushed up her chest.

"These are much smaller in reality, you know."

"How would you know?!" I tried to hide my face in my hands.

"Hmm... How to explain? Do you remember what it was like after you died, before Frisk had woken you up in that field of buttercups?"

"N-No. I couldn't have. I didn't exist."

"That's how it's like for me. Just all the time."

"Who... Who are you."

"Not anyone that matters. A man forgotten by the universe."

"How do I know you?" On Frisk's face, cracks went up from her right eyesocket, and down from her left eyesocket. A wide, inhuman grin spread across her face.

"You don't." And she was gone. I looked around. The exit was replace by a wooden, gray door. I opened it, and stepped through.

. . .

I walked into Hotland, next to Frisk.

"Hey, Chars? You okay?"

"Hm- What?"

"You looked a little spooked." I waved it off.

"I'm fine. But, uh... Let's avoid using shortcuts for a while, 'kay?" She shrugged.

"Means more time walking with you." She smiled and grabbed my hand. "C'mon! We don't have all day!"

"Slow down a little! You might trip and fall!.. I might trip and fall!" She opened her eyes and smiled at me.

"You're such a worrywort. I'll be fine, I have you to catch me." And we were back on our journey.
