Tra la la. Those who run out of time, also run out of space.

(🔲🔲🔲🔲🔲🔲 POV)

I've done it. I've found red magic. It took me years of research on SOULs and even more on color magic, but I've done it. I have to write this down.
"Entry number: 16. Using extracted DT from the donor SOULs... and my own body... I have accessed a power beyond comprehension. Red magic. I have yet to harness its true nature to the advantage of monsterkind, but I feel as though we can not fail, not with freedom in our grasp." I turned to some of my lab-mates as they walked into the room. "What do you two think?"
"You... did it. You actually did it!" I bore a smile and scoffed.
"Hate to say I told you so, but...."
"yeah yeah, whatever bro. anyway, how did you do it?" I pointed to the large machine behind the red sparks.
"I was given monsters that were... stage III fallen down." They looked at me in shock. "They had signed a waver when they joined the royal guard that if they fell down then their body and SOUL would be donated to our research department. Don't look at me like that!" They stood silently. "Listen. It wasn't just them who made sacrifices, i was also a part of this." I held up my left hand. It was still bandaged but clearly had a hole through the central bone plate.
"Why would you do something like that?" I started to laugh.
"Don't you get it? Red magic runs off of DETERMINATION! The DT I harvested from the SOULS wasn't enough! I had to add my own, and I knew it was enough because I didn't turn to dust!" sans looked back at me.
"you don't understand. you live because skeletons are also made of DARK magic. using DARK magic to amplify LIGHT magic can have dangerous consequences."
"I don't understand? You don't understand! I've taken all that into account! I have red magic here! The only color magic that was purely theoretical! We can use this to stop the war from ever existing! We can get revenge on the humans for imprisoning us here!"
"I'm with sans. I'm not sure about this. I don't think messing with the past is a good idea."
"were shutting this down."
"You-you-you can't do this! Do you know what I've had to do to get here?" sans turned around.
"sadly, i do. that's why you can't do this. ill see you at home." He walked away. The lights dimmed and the red magic cultivator shut off. They don't understand. None of them do.
. . .

sans walked into my room.
"hey."
"Greetings, sans." He held his tongue for a brief moment.
"dinner is done. papyrus tried to make enchiladas."
"I'm not hungry." sans walked over to my desk.
"whatcha working on?"
"Nothing." He peered over my shoulder.
"doesn't look like nothing. you're working on blueprints, aren't you?"
"You left the team for the purple magic research division, so it is none of your concern." His smile fell.
"you're becoming distant. papyrus rarely sees you anymore."
"I'll talk to him when this is done."
"you're always sitting here in the dark, and since when is your door grey?"
"A long time... and the dark helps me focus— Listen, are you going to provide anything useful? If not, you should leave." He touched my right hand, which now has a hole through it, to match my left.
"dings... you didn't."
"Get out."
"wh—"
"Get. out."
"...ill see you at the lab."
*SLAM*

I need more coffee.

The next day I put my plans into action. I used the red magic to create an envoy within a yellow crystalline structure from Waterfall. Light was drawn inside and absorbed like a black hole.
"*Ahem* Entry number: 17. Dark, darker, yet darker. The darkness keeps growing," I looked over at the screen to my left. "Photon readings: Negative. The shadows cutting deeper. This next experiment seems very... Very... Interesting." This is it. Monsterkind goes free. I flipped the switch. A loud tone played, and I almost got knocked back by a wave of power.
"Stop! You can't do this!" sans had run into my lab when he felt the surge.
"You can't tell me what to do, sans! This will work, you can't just ignore progress! I will access a SAVE point before the war happened! I can save our people, sans!" A picture of Mt.Ebott appeared on the crystal, and a loud tone erupted from it again. "All I have to do is LOAD the SAVE!" It's happening... Almost... So close to freedom.... Sans ran over to the machine that powered the red magic crystal, and deactivated it. Oh no. A large crack ran through the SAVE crystal "Do you understand the magnitude of what you've just done?" The crystal shattered into a million little yellow shards, all of them blipped into red sparks, seemingly teleporting themselves all across the Underground. The darkness that was inside the SAVE crystal remained, releasing red lightning from beyond its event horizon. "Sans! It's a black hole, and—" some of the red magic bolts hit the screens, causing them to show a timer. 30 seconds. "if that hits zero... we're doomed." 20 seconds. The black hole started to pull everything into itself. I was being dragged, too. sans grabbed onto me.
"Dings! Hold on!" 10 seconds.
"Sans! Get out of here before—!" A bolt of magic struck him in the left eye. The last thing I saw was a flash of many different colors burn into his eyesocket. 0 seconds.

There's nothing.
I don't even know how long I've been here.

Sans, papyrus... if you can hear me:

I'm sorry.
