A/N: This chapter deals with themes of depression, which can be hard to handle for some readers. Viewer discretion is advised.

(CHARA POV)

She passed out. I guess I put too much strain on her, why can't she love herself like I love her?Undyne caught her just as her head hit the ground.
"I don't know what that was, but she's not going down without a fight... NGAAAH! Why are humans so confusing?" Undyne had picked up Frisk's unconscious body and was carrying it back to Waterfall City. There's one thing I wonder, how did I know so much about possession if I haven't done it before? And why did I lose control of myself as soon as Frisk's insanity kicked in? I have a strange feeling that the two questions are related in ways I don't want to know the answer to. Black viscous fluid started to drip from my eyes and mouth. I'm used to it now, but I can't say the same for her, she really took a beating from that whole ordeal. Why am I so used to it? It's like I've spent weeks of endurance training. Unless I have. What happened during the last timeline? And if my theories are true, then why is Frisk affected more than me? Too many questions. I'm going to just— oh we're here. We arrived at the big fish-looking house that we saw yesterday. I probably should have assumed that it belonged to Undyne. We walked in, Undyne still didn't know I existed. We walked into a main room, with a table, a window, a piano, and a kitchenette. She walked past everything, through a doorway in the corner. She walked back out into the main room. My face had stopped leaking darkness and it disappeared as soon as Frisk was at rest, seems the two are connected. Today has been a long day, and it's not even afternoon yet, I think. I got up from the chair. When I almost got a spear to the face.
"Sit yer ass back down, phantom."
"Y-yes ma'am." I sat back down and Undyne dropped all of her armor. She wore a black tank top with blue jeans and brown boots. I tried not to look at her eyepatch. I don't need any more negetive thoughts. I became visible, but not tangible, I couldn't take much more of that. She looked to the purple embroidered symbol on the upper left breast of my jacket and flinched.
"You brandish the delta rune? How would you— where did— explain, ghost." She looked angry and confused.
"It's a symbol from my past."
"From your past?"
"Thats what I said—"
"Don't get sassy with me, PUNK. Or I'll tear your ethereal body to non-existent shreds."
"Listen, I cannot tell you. I took an oath."
"An oath, huh. Well alright, you can at least tell me what all of that was back there with the human."
"Welp, I possessed her for a brief time to aid her with deflecting your attacks. When I, or anyone really, possess another person, their feelings and thoughts towards the other is amplified tremendously and vis versa, and both think the same things at the same time, move exactly in unison. We effectively had a conversation with ourselves, it can be very hard to control, to say the least." Undyne was having a hard time processing this.
"So you two seem to be in a relationship, of sorts?"
"Yeah... She doesn't feel like she deserves to be loved, and that everyone should put priority on other people. That... that we should stop wasting our energy caring about her..." I looked at Undyne, who looked scary and intimidating, sure, but right now she looked almost friendly, compassionate, even. I felt a drop of cold water hit my hand, I was crying. "But when is she going to realize that there are people around who love her? When she..." my voice was failing me.
     "When she what?"
"When she tried to commit suicide down Mt. Ebott," Undyne looked shocked. "She survived. She had a crappy life and doesn't know how to think anyway else... She thinks the world is against her, and being down here doesn't help much with that, heh." Undyne just looked down at the table. She felt her eyepatch.
     "Ghost... when the human—"
     "Frisk. Her name is Frisk."
"When Frisk said that... said that she killed me in a past life, with one shot to the eye... Was she telling the truth?"
"I can't give you all of the details, but yes. She alone struck you down after an ambush. You had two eyes back then. She drove one of your own spears right through your left eye, and right out of the back of your head."
"Then why, pray tell, have I had this my whole life?" She lifted up her eyepatch to reveal an eye that was pure white. I tried not to think about it. Her eyeball seemed to have scars in a fractured shape going away from a single point in the center.
"C-Couldn't tell ya." Frisk was starting to wake up. Undyne shot back into her armor. Frisk walked back out into the main room. She was shock that we were both sitting across from one another.
"Human, we are going to have an honorable battle. You aren't going down without a fight. You have 30 minutes to prepare."
     "O-Okay..."
. . .
We met Undyne at the same place as before, Frisk SAVEd again. Once again, Frisk was GREEN. The spears didn't seem to stop.
"Not bad! Then how about THIS!?" Undyne shot out a bunch of yellow spears, frisk almost got impaled by a few of them but she knocked them away with an anime esc spin. "For years, we've dreamed of a happy ending... And now, sunlight is just within our reach! I won't let you snatch it away from us!" Undyne used a more complicated attack. "NGAHHH! Enough warming up!"
Undyne turned Frisk RED again and started throwing spears more frantically. Wait, if she's RED...
     "Frisk yo—"
"Don't talk to me right now." I was shocked. Why can't I talk to her? If she's still mad about our argument when she was possessed... I didn't do anything wrong! Girls are confusing. Finally she understood what I was trying to tell her and just ran away. Undyne tried to catch her.
     "NGAAAAH!! GET BACK HERE PUNK!!"
"Hasta la vista FISHES!"
"FIGHT ME COWARD!!" We ran for a bit, till we got to this sign that said 'WELCOME TO HOTLAND' the, Undyne caught up to Frisk. "No human has EVER made it past ASGORE! Honestly, killing you now is an act of mercy...! So STOP being so damn resilient! What the hell are humans made out of!?Anyone else would be DEAD by now! Alphys told me humans were determined... I see now what she meant by that! But I'm determined, too! Determined to end this RIGHT NOW!" The area erupted in spears. Frisk managed to dodge most of them, but when one hit her it dissolved into the air. Frisk survived that attack. "... RIGHT NOW!" Frisk was refusing to attack back every time she was given the opportunity. More spears. "... RIGHT... ... ... NOW!!" There weren't as many spears this time. Undyne seemed to look exhausted. "Ha... Ha... NGAHHH!!! DIE ALREADY, YOU LITTLE BRAT!" The floor was basically spears at this point, I have no idea how Frisk is avoiding all of them. "I WILL NEVER TAKE MERCY FROM THE LIKES OF YOU! "YOU! WILL! NEVER! SPARE! ME!" Then Frisk ran away again. We ran all the way to Hotland. Frisk's shoes started melting so she just kicked them off into the lava below us. We ran by sans and his sentry post. Undyne was busy trying to scold sans to get up. We shouldn't have gotten distracted. Frisk almost fell right into the boiling magma under us.
"FRISK!!" I caught her hoodie. She was inches away from the magma. I pulled her up slowly. Undyne was right behind us. We kept running for a bit past a water cooler when we heard the metallic footsteps slow down. Behind us, Undyne was sweating.
"Armor... so... hot... must... keep... going..." *CLANG* Undyne had passed out from dehydration.
"Oh no! Undyne!"
"Chara, we have to keep moving,"
"But Undyne is going to die!"
"There's more than likely soldiers coming after us!"
"She died once, I'm not going to let her die again!!" I realized what I just said. Frisk's face was filled with anger and sadness. Indescribable fury. "I-I didn't mean it like tha—"
"No. I get it. Im just a murderer. A whole race dead because of me. And the fact that I don't want you to die too... that just makes it even worse doesn't it?"
"Frisk I—"
"All my life I can only hurt people, and the one time. The one time! I try to care for another's well being... someone who I hold dear to me, his life is on the line, and my ability to give a damn just makes me the worst person!"
"Frisk you—" Tears were in her eyes as she only got more angry at herself and at me.
"I told you before that I don't want people wasting their energy caring about me, in fact it actually hurts when people care about me. Hahaha, irony's great, isn't it? The one time I care is the one time... I can't do this right now. You know what?" She poured a cup of water. "Maybe this'll help." She threw the water cup at Undyne and walked away.
