(FRISK POV)

"A-Are you guys past the lasers yet?" Alphys asked.

"Yeah... The lasers weren't the colors you said they'd be. It was blue, blue, orange."

"Oh my god, are you okay?"

     "We've been through worse."

"I... I'm so sorry, I... I gave you the wrong order..." Alphys shuffled through papers. "Everything's going to be fine, okay? J-just keep heading to the right." We walked ahead to a split in the path.

"Which direction?" Chara asked.

"What d-do you mean? There's only one direction..."

"Nope. We have two paths, one to the left and one straight forward."

"Uhh... uhhhh... T-try heading forward? W-wait! No, go left instead!" *Click* We looked at each other for a brief moment before going left. It was an empty room. We went to leave, but the door sparked with purple electricity before becoming a solid wall.

Behind us, in the center of the room, a swirl of darkness came together and formed into a large suit of armor, as dark as night. The halogen lights flickered and dimmed as the color drained from the room. Eyes like spotlights opened on the chest of the breastplate, and the abs opened up like a mouth to form a beak that was sharper than anything I'd seen before. Arms and legs made from black fire emerged from the armor, and a crescent shaped helmet rested atop the torso of the monster that now stood in front of us. A large staff with inscriptions depicting the Delta Rune and imagery of the sun engraved into its spear-like head.

"F r i s k A r c h e r," Her beak didn't move, yet her voice echoed throughout the room. How did she know my name? "Y o u  w i l l  a n s w e r  f o r  y o u r  c r i m e s. Y o u  s h a l l  p a y  f o r  t h e  f a t e  w e  h a v e  s u f f e r e d  a t  t h e  h a n d s  o f  h u m a n i t y, a n d  y o u r  b l o o d l i n e. S u r r e n d e r  y o u r  S O U L." My bloodline? I remembered back to when Diitii confronted me in Alphys's lab.

'And you, little Archer come from a long line of my servants, and your lineage is far more important to my plan that you realize.'

Did... Did one of my ancestors start the war? Trembling, I managed to press my ACT button. The whispers were harder to discern from all the other thoughts swimming in my head.

*Check *Talk *Sing

Naturally, I Checked.

"Knight Knight," Chara looked like he already knew who Knight Knight was, without need for introduction. "ATK 36, DEF 36. This megaton mercenary wields the Good Morningstar." I looked over at Chara.

"Another Grand Magi." Chara and I narrowly avoided a devastating attack. Knight Knight's Good Morningstar crashed on the ground, causing ripples of starlight to move across the ground, vaporizing all of the trash and small insects scuttling across the abandoned room's floor.

"G o o d K n i g h t. D o n o t r e s i s t." Before Knight Knight could prove why she was appointed a Grand Magus, I hit the ACT button again. This time, I chose sing. Information poured into my head... No...

"Chara, I have an idea." She looked over at me. "But you have to protect me, okay?" She looked from me to Knight Knight and back.

"...Okay."

. . .

As I focused on the instructions I was given by the ACT button, and my own precious memories, I started to sing. The world around me seemed to fade away. No ESP, no light, no fear. Just the sound of my mother's voice.
