(FRISK POV)
His past brought me to tears. I actually had a childhood, but he... And why did I react that way when I discovered those scars? I knew he had a horrible life on the surface.... Why was I so distraught?
"I... I can't believe you were cutting yourself, that your community made you... your parents..."
"I don't care, anymore, really. It's all behind me now. I still feel bad about dying but, I didn't care about my village, they didn't care about me. As far as I'm concerned: they never existed to me. Toriel and Asgore are my parents, Asriel Dreemur is my brother, and you are the only thing that matters to me now." He looked at me with a soft smile.
"O-Okay."
"Hey, I have an idea, let's go to Waterfall." Mixed emotions filled my head. On one hand, that was where Chara and I kissed for the first time, but on the other... Those memories were unpleasant.
"For...?" His natural blush spread across his face.
"You know, just to like, check it out, and uh, stuff. Together." He was even more flustered now.
He took my hand and we walked towards Waterfall, he winced and his hand flickered in and out of existence. Guess not then... we passed the pool of frozen blood. Into the room with a couple people, we walked into a room with a tall grass patch that I didn't realize existed last time we rushed through here. We started making our way through the grass when we heard metallic footsteps from above us. We didn't move a muscle. That's when I heard it. The spear. Memories hit me like a brick wall. From when I had... No. I pushed those memories far back into the back corner of my mind.
YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO.
No. I don't.
ITS THE ONLY WAY TO LIVE ANOTHER DAY. KILL. KILL. KILL.
We heard papyrus start talking to whoever 'Undyne' is. We used this as our opportunity to escape. we both let out a sigh of relief soon as we were out of earshot. Some kid ran up to us and was super hyper.
"Yo... did you see the way she was staring at you...? That... ... was AWESOME! I'm SOOOO jealous! What'd you do to get her attention...? Ha ha. C'mon! Let's go watch her beat up some bad guys!" I looked at Chara with a smile on my face, he looked at me confused for a second, then realized what I was thinking and he had a smile on his face. We both nodded at each other. I scooped up the monster kid.
"Can we keep him? Pleaaase?" Monster kid looked confused and started to protest, but I pretended not to hear him.
"No. We can't keep another you already have three." Chara said in his most fatherly sounded voice, we both didn't even realize that he had projected his voice into reality until monster kid started panicking with a resounding:
"Three??" We both started laughing and I let monster kid go. "H-Hey! What are you laughing about?"
"I'm sorry it's just *chuckle* the look on your face! Priceless!" He looked like he was about to cry. "We didn't mean any harm, here," I tossed him a cinnamon bunny I had picked up in snowdin. He caught the package in his mouth, scarfed down the whole thing, and spit out the empty wrapper. "Impressive."
"Yeah, I learned that a while back. Anyway! I'll see you later, yo!"
"Wait! What's your name?"
"Monty "Monster" Kidd, but you can just call me MK! What's yours?"
"I'm Frisk!"
"Nice to meet you, yo!" He ran off. We started walking again, too. I looked around at the scenery. Waterfall is truly beautiful. We walked through a water garden, echo flowers sprang from the shallow waters. Chara, just like before, told me to keep quiet, as a lot of the echo flowers here contain his childhood. The room had a plaque in the middle with a single, dried, buttercup laying on top.
*ROYAL BROTHERS MEMORIAL*
Chara looked at the plaque with a tear in his eye. We kept walking. I tried to hold his hand again but he was still intangible. This meant only I could see him, like it used to be. He told me he couldn't become visible or solid because he had strained his SOUL too much, well, the little bit he still has left, anyway. It was still just a speck when I asked him to show it to me. We just walked in silence. We walked into a fork in the road, we made our way around the hole in the ground and into the north room. There was just a piano, nothing much. I tried to play but for the life of me couldn't play anything well, not even old MacDonald. Chara got bored of me being bad at instruments and begged to move on. We moved into a small corridor that had a statue in the middle, it was raining directly on the statue. Chara looked at the statue for a bit.
"You okay?" He snapped back to reality.
"Huh? Oh yeah... let's move on." He spent a lot of time here, apparently. It was with his brother Asriel I think it was, he must be having memories of his childhood, at least he had happy memories to remember.
"Okay." We walked further into the hallway where it started raining everywhere. We sat in the rain for a bit. There was a trash can filled with umbrellas. It said 'Take one, leave one.' I had an idea. I took an umbrella and took it back to the statue. I placed it in the statue and walked away, grabbed another umbrella, and kept walking.
"Hey Chara what do you—" he wasn't next to me and I could hear a music box playing, I followed the noise back to the statue but there was music louder from the other room. I walked into the north room to find Chara playing the piano and singing. The song was beautiful... and in Spanish, so I didn't understand it. It went along to the tune of the music box of the previous statue. He sang with remorse and sorrow, grief and raw emotion, but also a hope. A sort of... Determination.Snail Fact #8
