Hey guys, gals, and NB pals, good news.

We did it.

1k reads. I can't thank you all enough for reading. Even if you're one of the hundred or so people that only clicked on episode 1 and wasn't interested past that, which would mean that you have no way of seeing this message... I can't tell you enough how much this means to me.

So, as a thank you, I want to give you all a behind the scenes story of how this tale came to be.

-CHAPTER 1 • BEGINNINGS-
2016
Undertale came out in 2015, so in 2016 it was still pretty popular. I was in 5th grade around that time (I think) and I was sitting alone on the playground. Some kid came up to me and asked if I knew Undertale. I was a huge fan of UT at the time, and we hit it off pretty much instantly.

Over the course of about a month, me and my new friend made up this Undertale AU (Alternate Universe) called Undersplit. Undersplit was a sort of sequel thing to the events of UT and revolved around a pacifist run.

-CHAPTER 2 • UNDERSPLIT-

After Frisk had saved the monsters, there was peace. Frisk has grown up, and had a child. Sebastian. He had the Gold SOUL of Courage. Peace didn't last long, however. And a second Monster war broke out and a Monster relic was broken.

The Split Crystal. The lore behind the Undersplit universe was that it kept the monsters together. In a literal sense. When the Crystal broke, Monsters we're split into 2 different monsters based on thier most prominent personality traits. (I. E. Toriel was split into Tutorr and Drimirr. Tutorr was the motherly, protective, teacher side of Toriel. And Drimirr was the Joke loving, Puzzlemaster side)

We thought of a whole adventure that Sebastian would go on. Filled with Wacky Hijinks, zany Lowjinks, and all sorts of stuff in between.

Me and that friend still talk, on occasion, and I have lots of nostalgia for Undersplit. But, every story has its flaws.

-CHAPTER 3 • STORYTELLING-

I started to become slightly obsessed with the Undersplit world, I would flesh out Character details and designs, I'd come up with possible interactions, I'd even try to come up with a backstory and compelling narrative to the Undersplit universe.

[Friend] was more concerned with the playing part of the story (we were children and played games based on the world). So one day, I sat her down on the playground and talked with her about an idea for a backstory I had. I called it Alpha!Tale.

Alpha!Tale was all about "What if Chara wasn't the bad guy?" Or "what if Chara was a main character from the start?" Etc. Minor details that would still retain the Charm of the original UT, but also add a unique flair to it and had a slight focus on a Story heavy narrative. (Something that would sound familiar to avid readers of this story)

So I did some research. Alpha!Tale was already a thing... And nowhere close to what I had in mind. So I needed a rebrand. One thesaurus later, Proem!Tale was born.

-CHAPTER 4 • HOOBADAWHAT NOW?-

If you've read the description of the book, you would know that this story takes place in the Proem!Tale universe.

Fun Fact: "Proem" actually means the beginning of a story.

Here's why that's important: Within the lore of Proem!Tale, it's actually the first AU. (Or rather, just U) It's the Origin of Undertale and all its AUs.

It came first, and everything else is just a product of Multiverse theory (look it up if you don't know what that is)

-CHAPTER 5 •WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE REST OF THE STORY?-

For the purposes of storytelling, Undersplit is not cannon to this book. This will be an isolated series (yes you read that right) based off of my writing alone.

I would use Undersplit, however I feel that it is special to me, and if I were to transcribe it to book format, I'd like it to be actively written with both me and her. Not just my memory of the story.

Trying to write Undersplit like I'm writing this story would be doing it an injustice. And I'd like to leave by rose-tinted nostalgia goggles as long as possible.

Getting to 1k reads has been a long and rewarding journey. But it's not done yet, we still have soooo much story left to go before this book is done. And I'm looking forward to it.

And Guys. Seriously. There are so many chapters with less reads than the ones after it. Go back and read some. You're missing out on a whole lot of story.

If you have any questions about things and stuff, leave a comment on the chapter, and I'll try to get back to you.

I can't thank you all enough for reading this story,

     Lots of love,
     A Whole Person
