Hey Guys, Gals, and NB pals! A Whole Person here! Thank you all for getting us to 5000+ reads! I'm super happy that so many of you like my story!

This one is more of a Developer Commentary-type special, so expect me to nerd out and go on many tangents. Especially because this is the first time I've done art for the book!

I don't have stories or another QnA section for this update, but speaking of art...
     Here's our girl, Frisk:

I'm not as good as art as I am at writing, but with a couple (hundred) reference photos, I think I did pretty well

I'm not as good as art as I am at writing, but with a couple (hundred) reference photos, I think I did pretty well. I hate drawing hands, but I decided to challenge myself and sketch them both with some of the hardest hand positions I could muster -_- . I was tempted to pick a pose which showed her characteristic Red eyes, but I feel like this expression is a neat callback to the original game. Frisk is a bit stockier than Chara, but that's perfectly okay! (It may or may not be Chara's type >.* ) Also, the A in Archer is the Archer family crest, which may or may not be relevant to the story...

I'm actually really quite happy with their designs, and even though I was kind of limited in scope due to reliance on my reference photos (I am still learning more art skills, so I mainly just looked back and forth between the references and the sketch, making a million billion edits until it looked right), I still wanted to make sure that all the little details fit the image I've had of these two for so long. Man, having an actual cannon visual representation of these previously faceless (yet still adorable) protagonists feels really odd. Like when you see official art put out of characters from a book series you like and thought "Wow, that's not at all what I'd thought they looked like in my head!" Except these are my characters and they look exactly how I thought they looked like in my head. I don't know, it just feels very surreal to make all this on top of being at 5k reads.

And, yes, I know at the time of publishing this chapter, the book is already more than halfway to 6k, but I've had this one in the chamber for a loooooooong time. So... I didn't come up with a clever segue from Frisk to Chara, so here's the og human, Chara:

Chara's hair turned out a little more flat than I thought it'd be, but he does wear his hood a lot, so it kinda makes sense

Chara's hair turned out a little more flat than I thought it'd be, but he does wear his hood a lot, so it kinda makes sense. I wanted to represent his Red Spark Bullets kind of like Flowey's Friendliness pellets, accompanied by a stream of magical light. I made sure to put Chara's various accessories (Golden Flower Locket excepted Bc I completely forgot ^~^) in to represent how he presents himself to the world around him. Also, his name is written using the font he speaks in, Kara Kaboodle.
