Tra la la, secrets are held by even the smallest of plants.

(FLOWEY POV)

Ahh... We've been here for a while now. It's strangely quiet. He's strangely quiet. I guess even Papyrus can be calm once in a while. It's nice, though. Nice is good. And nice Papyrus is even better... You know, it's been a while since I've done something like that. Hmm...

"Hey Papyrus?"
"YEAH?"
"You're my favorite skeleton." He turned to me
"OF COURSE I AM! YOU'RE MY FAVORITE MAGICAL TALKING FLOWER!"
"Aw shucks, papyrus. If I had blood I'd be blushing right now."
"NYEH, A FLOWER WITH BLOOD SOUNDS PRETTY GROSS, DON'T YOU THINK, FLOWEY?"
"Yeah... That'd be pretty messed up."
     "..."
     "Papyrus, we're friends, right?"
"BUT OF COURSE! MY NUMBER 2 FAN IS ALWAYS A BEST-FRIEND-TYPE FAN."
    "Best friend... I'm glad."

Ahh... Papyrus can always surprise me like no one else. His personality stays the same throughout the timelines, but he has a refreshing unpredictability. I guess that's why we became friends. . .

"Um, IS SOMETHING ON YOUR MIND, FRIEND?"

  Who am I kidding?

"As a matter of fact, yes, there is."
"WELL I MAY NOT HAVE EARS, BUT I ASSURE YOU THAT I AM A GREAT LISTENER!!!"
"...I was just thinking about how tough you are."

     We were never friends.

"Yeah, I feel really safe when I'm with you... Can I tell you a secret? I wasn't always a flower."
     "GET OUT OF TOWN! REALLY?"
"Of course, ya silly goose! Why else would I be the only magical talking flower in the underground?" The skeleton's eyebrows raised.
"UH... I THOUGHT YOU WERE AN ORPHAN."
"What? No. I had the best parents in the whole  dang underground!"
". . .Had?" I inched closer to the skeleton.
"I used to be a strong monster. A really rare, really special monster. I was a boss monster."
"Um, Flowey, you keep using past tenses..." I moved closer.
"And I bet you're wondering how a boss monster ended up as a li'l ol' flower like me, huh?"
     "F-Flowey?" Closer.
"It's a super big secret. So I'll whisper it to you."
     "..." Even closer.
"I died." He was taken aback.
     "Uh—"
"Crazy, huh? I should have disappeared. But I didn't! I became this flower instead." Papyrus covered his mouth.
     "FLOWEY THATS TERRIBLE!"
"Yeah. A bunch of humans came after me when I was just a kid. Haha, they beat me to death!"
     "Oh my god! No..."
      "Sad, huh?"
"That's the saddest thing I've ever heard."
"Nah. The real kicker is that I was strong enough to have easily killed them. I could have wiped that village off the face of the earth. Hoo, sorry! Hit a sore spot there. I'm sure you understand. Getting brutally and mercilessly murdered is no fun at all, golly." Papyrus turned away.
     "I... I BET NOT."

"I didn't believe in fighting back then. I was just a kid! A nice kid. I didn't know you back then but I bet that if you were with me, you'd have protected me for sure!"
"A-ABSOLUTELY! NO WAY WOULD I, THE GRRREAT PAPYRUS, ALLOW THOSE HUMANS TO HARM A CHILD!!"
"The world is a cruel, cold place Papyrus. It's really kill or be killed out there, you know? I didn't want to believe it, but it's true. I mean, look where MERCY got me!. . . You know Papyrus, you always pull your punches. I don't know how strong you are for sure?" Papyrus seemed to try and avoid the subject.
     "I-I'M PLENTY STRONG!"
"How could I know if you could truly save me out there? Could you have killed them? Or would you make the same mistake I did?"
"FLOWEY I DONT LIKE THE WORDS YOU ARE USING I—"
"I don't want to bum you out papyrus, I told you my secret because I thought my sad fate could help you."
     "HELP ME? F-FLOWEY I DONT UNDERSTAND, I—"
"You've always wanted to be in the Royal Guard. So I'm going to help you train. You're going to learn the lesson I died to learn. So we're going to try a little exercise, if you don't mind."
"I... I think I do mind! A lot, of it's all the same to you...." I grew rapidly in size. Crimson thorns sprouted from my stem, this is where the fun begins.
"I'm going to attack you. For real. And I want you to attack me. For real. I'm not going to hold back for even a second, papyrus. The Royal Guard is kill or be killed. Don't pull your punches~"
"Flowey, please don't do this. We're friends, right?"
"Of course we are you silly goose! You are my favorite after all. Now are you going to fight like your life depends on it? Because guess what?"

"IT DOES."

. . .

"Wow Papyrus! You did way better than I thought you would! But it wasn't good enough. You can do better tomorrow! Same time. Same place. Understood?— Oh! You look a little banged up there, buddy! Lemme help you out, friend." A single green drop of magic from the tip of my vine hit the tip of his nose. All of his scratches, scrapes, fractures, everything. Was fixed in an instant. "And remember. What I told you was a secret, if you tell anyone, I can't guarantee your safety.See you later,
b u d d y ." And with that I dropped back into the earth.

Then why tell me?
