For three eras, they lived in near-perfect harmony.
But, one day, there was a corrupt Human.
Sir Archer.
Who wished nothing but to cause discord between Humanity and Monsterkind.
He told the High King of Humans that there was a Monster who absorbed a Human SOUL.
The High King, horrified at this atrocity against The Fox God's creation, trusted his advisor, and declared war with the Monsters.
The Monsters lost.
The High King gathered his Seven Sages to seal them in the deepest pits of what they knew as hell.
