29 - SACRIFICES

(CHARA POV)

     "Sorry guys, but I have to head out." That was the last thing I heard before I was given the sedatives. I remember trying to say goodbye, but she had already left.
     "Ugh, these hospital lights are really bright..." Alphys turned around.
     "Oh! You're awake!" She rolled her chair next to the bed I was laying in.
     "I—"
     "Shh, it's best if you don't talk for awhile, actually. I had to put you to sleep so your 'body' had a chance to heal and so you would stop... leaking." I nodded. My hand came up to my eye, no eyepatch. I let out a sigh of relief. "Y-yeah, your spirit is a fast healer, however, I guess you get that from Frisk, huh?" We chuckled. I know I'm not supposed to talk, buuut...
     "S-so. Undyne, huh?" Her face turned bright red.
     "I-Uh, well... I mean, um... She's so strong and confident, and funny... I mean, we both have scales, too... NOT THAT THAT MEANS ANYTHING!!! I MEAN... um... oh god, I'm hopeless." My voice started to become raspy as I was talking.
     "Hey. Hey Undyne's really cool. And from what I've seen of her house, She's a giant nerd like you. I've also talked to her before... She's really *cough* intimidating... *cough cough cough*" Alphys went to grab me a glass of water.
     "H-Hey! I told you to take it easy on the talking!"
     "My bad." I continued with my coughing fit.
     "You seriously don't learn do you?" I shrugged and drank the whole glass of water in one go. An awkward silence fell on the room, when after a couple minutes, she spoke up.
     "You should get c-changed into this hospital robe, it'll make the process s-smoother." I nodded. After I came back and laid back down, a familiar voice came from the floor.
     "Howdy, Chara!" Alphys looked up in shock.
     "F-Flowey?!"
     "Yup! Miss me, Al?" She had a look of fear and rage on her face as she looked down on the golden flower.
     "You two... know each other?" I asked.
     "I feel we could all ask the same question, Prince Chara."
     "Oh gee, he's prince Chara, hmm? I see how it is."
     "What's that supposed to mean?" Alphys yelled.
     "Oh, nothing, just thought of something."
     "What are you doing here?" Flowey let out an innocent laugh.
     "Why, I'm here to see 'Prince' Chara's new body, of course!"
     "Why do you care?"
     "Silly, I can't care, remember? I can't feel at all. Seeing this new body, and this procedure could prove useful to me, is all." Alphys hesitated for a moment, and a maniacal grin grew on flowey's face.
     "I can't make you leave, can I?" Flowey laughed.
     "Nope! You could say I'm... Determined to see this happen."
     "V-Very well. As I was saying, This has never been done before. So there may be... side effects..." Side effects? I tilted my head slightly. "I don't know what they are. Or if this will even work. But this is still what you want, r-right?" I gave a firm nod. It's either I do this, or I die. And that sounds painful. "Okay. I will make your new body out of magic. It will be difficult to make a vessel strong enough to contain a human SOUL, but I have to try. It will be constructed like a type II skeleton's body would." Wait, I'm going to be a skeleton?! Alphys saw my face and shook her head. "I-It's not what you think! A type II skeleton is made completely artificially, with DARK and LIGHT magic. What that all means isn't important right now, b-but you will have a normal looking body, it will just have a slightly different physiology than normal monsters." I think I understand. "But there's one more thing. I-It's the most important! I can't control what your new body looks like. That will be completely up to your SOUL, and your spirit. It will take form as what you truly perceive yourself to be. Consciously, and subconsciously. If you have any insecurities, or questions about who you truly are... They will be a-amplified..." So I'm not even going to know what I'll look like. I opened my mouth.
"H-How... long will... it t-take?"
"2 or 3 weeks? Like I've said before, I've never d-done this before. But y-you're going to have to go into a medically induced comatose state, so that your SOUL c-can remain in stasis while it forms your new body... And I'm not sure what you will see, because your SOUL will be flooded with m-magic... It could feel like months.. or years... You might not even be the s-same person when you wake up...  Are you still sure you want to do this?"

So. There are a lot of complications to this. I might not survive. And even if I do survive I'm going to be a whole different person. I won't even be human. But I know. I have to do this. Because if I survive... No; When I survive, I'm going to see Frisk, and Mom, and Dad, and everyone. And the universe can't tell me no. I looked up at Alphys.

"I'm ready."
