Now all the huntsman academies will have a new class! The arcane class!
To pass this class one needs to be able to cast the 5 basic Witcher signs/runes.

BUT! After you pass, you can still stay and learn more things about runes and soul magic! It was not all mandatory, just the 5 witcher signs. And there was a reason for this.
Aard- introduces how powerful runes can be! Geralt can push back monsters 10 times larger then he is with it!
Igni- introduces how runes can bend and conjure elements without dust!
Yrden- this rune can be used in a lot of different ways in the Witcher series! it forces someone to be more creative. There was one fanfic where the MC carved the Yrden sign on a bunch of little sticks and activated them when he threw them in the air, basically creating a 3-dimensional space where his enemies movement were slowed down.
Quen- introduces how runes can be used for defense.
Axii- shows that runes may affect other targets not only physically but also mentally.
There are thousands of other Witcher runes, and don't let me get started on COMBINED runes! But that will be for those who stay for the extra lessons.
As for soul magic...for now the only idea he had was the Minecraft enchantment table.
He did get in a lottery roll together with his meditation book, and something else he didn't remember.
And Minecraft dungeons confirmed that their magic is from the soul.
After most witcher signs, and Minecraft enchantments will be taught, the next stage will be Norse runes, runewords, & glyphwords.
