Part three: Getting to know Alphonse

"Why do I care? You sure you don't just want to fool around? You're asking the real questions" he responded while trying to dodge my question. I just remain silent and not answering to his request to show that I'm serious, luckily for me, it seemed to have worked but at the same time, I probably shouldn't have put him on the spot like that.

"I'm very sorry if it's a personal matter," I said as I was starting to feel guilty for asking such a question but oddly enough he didn't seem to be affected by it as he turned his attention to me with an awkward smile.

"No it's fine, it's fine. Look I might be an asshole but I'm not so bitter that I'm gonna complain about people not fucking with me, then when somebody shows up who is actually interested in treating me like a real person, I act like a shithead. I don't want to be, I don't wanna be like that, not with you; you're cool. So I guess between the people low key holding it against me, that things have changed around here and me feeling like I need to try and do right by my fam, I'm too stubborn to give up," he said to me as he broke his focus from me and looked down at the floor. Seeing Alphonse talk like this, almost reminds me of how I was when the others in the city would put me down whenever I talked about opening up an independent business. I couldn't blame them for it since it wasn't an easy path, but I still made it. Do the people of this town hate him that badly? What on earth did he even do to deserve it?!

"Didn't you say that you were the neighbourhood watch?" I asked him when suddenly he instantly looked at me with a shocked expression but then immediately started laughing, followed by a smile.

"Neighbourhood watch?! You believe that line? Ooh shit, you really are cute!" He said as he laughed while giving me the vastly brightest smile he has ever given throughout the evening and meeting. He does look so much brighter when he's this happy. I was so mesmerised by this sudden change of character that I couldn't help but gawk at him as my face felt warm, I couldn't even bring myself to say anything as Alphonse started to calm down and turned his attention back towards me.

"I was just bull shiting, I was just out on a walk because usually no ones out this late. It is a lot more pleasant than getting stink-eye from Betty and Susan, power walking in the park in the afternoon anytime I'm trying to get some fresh air you know I'm saying?"

"Yea I can understand on some level. I have a friend who was always been given the stink eye during our school year," I said to him. I feel like he and Robin could get along on some level but you may never know. I should also ask him something about the town, it would help to put Robin's nerves to rest due to their parent's chosen lifestyle.

"Does anything bad happen around here? Like is there any crime?" I asked him.

"No there's like no crime here at all, man maybe a rogue jaywalker or something somebody letting the parking metre run, out I'm not really caught up on all the statistics."

The very minute he said we both just started laughing. It has been a long time since any guy or girl has made me laugh like this or even this much. It's so strange that this started so awkwardly and yet here we are, enjoying each others company. When we finally started to calm down Alphonse began to speak again and from the looks of it, he was very surprised by everything that has happened yet he enjoyed it a lot more than he imagined.

"Ah fuck it, what the hell, you gotta get outta here. It's late and you're going to make a bad impression with the townsfolk if you're caught hanging out around here this hour, it's better to go home in the dark than leave here in the morning you feel me?" He said to me with a small smile. When he mentioned that I got up and checked my phone to see if it's working yet but when I looked at the screen I saw the messages from Robin and the time; I have been gone for too long! I really should head home! I wasted no time in pulling up a map on my phone and having the detections set, then I turned my attention back to Alphonse as he started to speak again.

"I talked all that shit, and you got me out here talking about real stuff. I wasn't, I wasn't really anticipating that. Thanks, for real." he said while getting up from the bed and giving me another smile, I honestly couldn't help but do the same.

"You're welcome. And thank you for allowing me to come into your store before opening hours, I seriously appreciate it," I said to him softly. I started to make my way towards the door that leads back into the shop but I was called out by him for the final time.

"And go on take whatever you want on your way out if you need a snack or like a drink or something, just don't get too greedy into candy alright. That's my spot," he said as he also jokingly warned me not to go near the candy aisle.

"I can't promise anything, but I'll try my very best," I said as I offered a cheeky smile. We both just stood there in an awkward silence till we both walked back into the store.

"Thanks for the chat and maybe, I'll see you around," he said as if he was hoping to do this again sometime. It's probably been a long time for him to enjoy another one's presence like this but honestly, I would love to do it again as well.

"I'd love that. Thanks again for everything Alphonse, see you later!" I bid him a short farewell as I quickly went out of the shop and ran my way home. Maybe this move surely is the best thing ever, but now I can only hope that Robin won't be too angry with me for being gone for so long, and it's not like I can just lie to them either. The only thing I can do is tell them the truth of what happened, I just hope that they won't lose their mind over it.

(That's it, we finally meet Alphonse and even finished it. God, I feel like I have just spoiled someone very badly😅 The next chapter is going to be Avery and Robin talking but till then take care and stay safe😊)
