XVIII A ruined pancake can turn your morning around XVII

You know there's a lot of things that you never expect from someone and Alphonse was one of those people. When I arrived at his store and explained what was happening, he immediately closed up everything and brought me back to his home. And let me tell you, I've never seen him fuss over me like this before; he even literally demand me to sit down while he puts my things away. I would not deny that it was cute, but it's not like I was sick or anything but still very sweet. That's what our days have been like, just enjoying each other company and cuddling; till one morning, we both agreed to have a different start for the day.

Here I am, laying in my boyfriend's bed and enjoying a five-minute shut-eye but then I noticed that something was missing. When I opened my eyes, I saw that Al wasn't in the bed with me. As I got up and went out into the hallway to look for him, then I noticed that there was a smell in the air and a lot of noise coming from the kitchen.

"Shit! No, no, no, no." Alphonse said as I saw him rushing towards a pan.

"Al?" I called out to him which also caught him by surprise as he turned his attention to me.

"Oh! You're awake. You aren't supposed to wake up. Well, yeah, I guess it's hard to stay asleep when the whole place smells like burnt pancakes."

"Pancakes? But why?" I asked him. At least I know what happened to the kitchen since it's in a mess but I wonder why he went through all of this.

"Sorry, I don't exactly do a lot of cooking and I made this mess trying to surprise you with breakfast in bed, my fault. I bit off a bit more than I could chew and frankly I don't think I could even chew one of these burnt disaster discs there are, not good." He said with a frown as he looked at his failed attempts of a pancake. I honestly felt touched that he went through all of this just for my sake, I can feel my heart flutter at the thoughtful gesture.

"So cereal? Hard not to mess up cereal."

"Sure, but you know you didn't have to go through all this trouble just for me," I said as I walk up to him.

"Well the plan was to treat you with a yummy surprise, I just know the being away from home and all this stuff going on; it can really wear you down. And you have a bit of a habit of being too stubborn to take care of yourself, so I thought hey maybe I should do something nice for you. So, surprise!" God he sure is being sweet today, if he keeps this up I'm not going to last long.

"I'll clean all this up I promise, I already cracked a window to try and get the stank out; the charred smell of defeat and not using enough butter," said Al as he caresses my cheek. Then all of a sudden, I started to giggle.

"Hey, what are you giggling about?"

"Sorry sweetheart, it's just almost ironic. Me and Robin have taught you the basics of baking food and yet this happens."

"You don't gotta rub it in! I know, I know, I'm a fool."

"Well, if it makes you feel any better, all of this didn't wake me."

"What, the smoking shame didn't wake you up, well then, what did?"

"Well you weren't in the bed when I woke up, and I began to miss you," I said to him as I wrapped my arms around him.

"Missing me. Okay, Nope, no, that's illegal. I'm the one trying to be cute this morning, you can't just flip the script on me like that."

"Sorry, sorry, I just couldn't help myself," I said as I kissed his cheek, which isn't easy to reach since he is taller than me.

"Hey look; keep playing and breakfast in bed will still happen but there won't be a whole lot of food involved, unless you're into that but honestly I don't think we have much in the way of sexy food. we gotta we got some apples, cheezits but you sure as hell ain't those in bed, absolutely not! Cereal I mean, cereal isn't really- Oh no!" Out of nowhere, Alphonse raised his voice so suddenly that it even caught me by surprise. Feeling concerned and worried; I instantly went next to him to see if he is alright.
