"Yeah lots of lights in here, you gotta have decent lighting if you got to cam" and that answers my worries.

"Cam? As in a cam boy?" I asked him with a frown. Is this what does for a living?

"Yeah, like a Cam boy, see business. Everything is off right now obviously, trust me. I got no need to get anything we’re about to do on camera. People would be hella jealous, and I don’t need that kind of negativity in my life," Alphonse said to me, I was sceptical at first but if he says everything is off then I should take his word of it. Plus I can understand what he's saying, it's best to avoid anything that could steer negativity in one's life.

"Alright, go on, get comfortable," he said while pointing towards a bed. The offer does sound tempting but I'm not going to make myself comfortable till I know for sure that it's safe.

"It's clean, right?" I asked him but he seemed to be offended by my question.

"Yeah the sheets are clean, you think I’m just gonna make a mess all over the bed?" The minute he said that I gave him a doubtful expression. I didn't know why but it was something that I wouldn't put the matter past him and from the look of Alphonse's expression, he seems to understand where I'm coming from.

"Well, alright fair enough but I just did laundry, I’m not some kind of savage. Well, not yet at least."

He stated that sentence in a joking manner but of course, it ended with both his facial expression and tone shift. I won't deny that I'm curious about how passionate he can be within these kinds of moments but I have to remember that I didn't come here for that. I made my way towards the bed and sat down, it was surprisingly comfy; just enough that it could make me fall straight to sleep if I lay down. I turned my attention back to Alphonse once I was comfortable.

"So what will it be? Whatever you want, however you want it, I got you," he said to me with a devilish grin. And from that moment I know that it was time for the pretend game came to its end.

"What I want is to have a chat, you know friendly talk," I said to him with a soft smile and I knew for a fact that my request took him by surprise as the look of shock was written all across his face. Bet he's even questioning himself if he heard me correctly.

"Excuse me? You just, just want to talk?" Alphonse asked me with a slight stutter.

"Yea. If you're not comfortable about it then I won't force you," I said as I reassured him, but he seemed to think differently.

"No, no, look I’m cool with it. I’m just, I guess I’m not used to people wanting something like a conversation out of me. I don’t know why, in general maybe it’s the hair, the way I dress, the way I look and then there’s people who just want to fuck around. That’s what I’m used to. Hell, it's what I’m good at," he said while looking away from me. Do other people see him like that? I don't know why but I somehow feel bad like I gave his hopes up or something like that.

"I'm sorry," I said to him as I looked down at my lap.

"No look you didn’t do anything wrong it’s cool I’m down to chat, I just thought I had you all figured out so, cool. I like surprises I talked all that good shit and you flipped the script on me. Hell, I’m usually more prepared than this. Alright, well let’s kick it then, scoot on over here." he said while trying to reassure me, trying not to show he was flustered, but I immediately noticed it. And with a charming smile to top it all off as he sat down on the bed next to me. He should smile more often, it suits him very well. Now that we are both somewhat comfortable we can have an actual conversation, I guess it would be safe to bring up his cam business as a topic.

"So, you're also a cam boy?"

"Yeah, yeah, the cam boy thing. Honestly, the store ain't doing too hot since, my folks, left it to me. People around here aren’t too keen on change, you feel me?" I understand what he means on some level. I mean the people adored granny Grace shop so the minute she hangs up her work after meeting grandpa, no one wanted anything to happen to the store that she left but I don't understand how a candy store isn't doing so well. I decided not to say anything just yet, as Alphonse proceed to poured his heart out.

"At least whenever it suits them. People who came here for years each morning for coffee and shit, they don’t come around no more. So I gotta make sure the lights stay on."

So does the cam boy thing simply to this shop standing. This is more than a store, this is also his home. While a part of me can never imagine his choice of work, but he does need the money; to simply live but I couldn't help but wonder what his reasoning is to keep ongoing.

"I hope that you don't mind me asking, but why do you care so much about this place?" I asked him with genuine curiosity.

"Why do I care? You sure you don’t just want to fool around? You’re asking the real questions," he responded while trying to dodge my question. I just remain silent and not answering to his request to show that I'm serious, luckily for me, it seemed to have worked but at the same time, I probably shouldn't have put him on the spot like that.

TO BE CONTINUED
