Ava's pov

Can words even describe how awesome my life is? At first, I was a person that came from nothing but now I feel like I have everything. I'm running a business, have amazing friends, wonderful dogs and a loving boyfriend. And tonight we are going to do something a little different; rather than hanging out at home, we agreed to spend some time outdoors. Enjoy our time with each other, but I don't we were ready for what was about to happen on that very night.

"You smell that?" Alphonse said as we walked down the evening street while holding hands.

"Al, just to be sure, that's not you being gross or something right."

"What, no I’m not being gross you goof! I’m talking about the air tonight; the seasons are changing."

"Sorry, sweet cheeks but you are right. The air is feeling warmer."

"Yeah, everything is budding and sprouted and summer is right around the corner. It's my favourite time of the year."

"It is?"

"Look don’t get me wrong, I’m all about sweater weather and getting cosy with you on a cold night but damn, I do like the sunshine, the wind in my hair, makes me miss travelling a bit," he said with a smile. I just learned something new about him.

"You travelled back then?"

"Well yeah, a few years ago before I moved back, I was looking for something, maybe, or maybe I thought I’d found something. I don’t know it was a weird time; I was young and dumb I thought I was so smart, I had it all figured out and the world was my oyster."

"That's nothing out of the ordinary Al, a lot of other people would have thought the same thing. But I'll have to be honest, you make it sound like you've still had a lot to learn," I said with a frown. Alphonse hardly brings up his past this deeply before, only his family but not the whole of it.

"Yeah, I had to learn a lot of lessons the hard way and when I found out about my folks, well found out that I...I needed to come back and take care of the shop I...I questioned everything. every decision I’d made, all my priorities. Back then I was reckless and just not the kind of person I’d say I was proud of, the universe had to check my ass, set me straight and I had to realise that you can't take things in life for granted."

"Even so, you were willing to leave the nest at a young age. And yet your parents weren't supportive, let alone say bye?"

I've yet to see or meet Alphonse family, but from what I've heard they actually sound friendly, maybe a bit strict but they sound nice. So what could have to put them all on thin ice?

"Yeah, even though it is sad not getting to say goodbye, my relationship with my parents will always be unresolved. If I hadn’t come back and spent the time to get my mind in my heart right I...I never would have met you," Al said as he turned his attention to me with a smile, and I couldn't help but blush at his honesty.

"I wish I'd known about your existence before, I loved to meet the past version," I said to Al but only to receive a surprised expression.

"God if you’d met me before I was on this path, before I was at least a little bit less of an asshole, shit, I mean you’re crazy enough to fall in love with me anyway but you don't need all that in your life, the way things used to be now, I never would have wanted that for you."

"That wouldn't bother me, I'll still love you. Plus, I doubt that you were any different back then."

"Now see you say that. You think I was just I don’t know what a little ruder, anti-social, maybe I spray painted some public property." When he said that, we both then shared a laugh. It may look like a silly thing to smile over but when you look back on something that could consider bad, but as time passes you can't take that part seriously. Perhaps the past Alphonse isn't too far from the truth.
