From the minute he said that I honestly don't know how to feel about it. I mean, I'm not against with same-sex love, I'm actually all for it but to hear Alphonse saying it like that, I can really tell that Al was crazy for Seth. And Seth was crazy for him too. Even his expression changed slightly, that sadness was replaced with a bit of happiness; he really loved those moments in his life, during a time when everything was perfect to him, but then I saw his expression change again, it was signalling that he was about to reveal all the bitter memories for those times.

"But that's when people started looking at us funny, not just us, they started looking at my folks funny. Like we took Seth in and then within a few months they see us being closer than we were and they started, assuming. I mean they were assuming right but my folks have nothing to do with that, even then with the people around him murmuring, acting like we were some aliens who abducted Seth and gave him a case of the gay. My mom and dad took care of him, but I guess having a bitter loser of a dad spreading his bullshit at the bar to anybody who’d have a drink there and whine about it. It started really having an effect on my parents, on the business. Also; having two horny idiots under the same roof is a recipe for things to get awkward and we weren't exactly subtle, so Seth had to go home and it wasn’t long before he comes to me one night and says he’s running away, he wanted me to go with him but I couldn’t."
No matter how far deep into the story we're getting, Al would still surprise me. I honestly didn't know what to make of it; he was given the opportunity to run away with the person he loved so much but yet he chose to stay here. It actually made me think of how different life would have been if Al went with Seth, while me and Robin still moved here. I don't think I could ever imagine my life without Alphonse in it.
"So what happened next? When he left, where did he go?"
"I guess he tried to stay with his mom first and she's a free spirit, she hooked up with one of the boyfriends who had some ties to groups in the city and then he started working for them, even when this guy left is ma, Seth stuck with him."
When those words left his mouth, I honestly felt that something in my brain just clicked. The city and a so-called boyfriend with ties to groups almost sounds like what Robin's parents were doing. She said that they were working with shady people, I remember that very well; because it was the day when they just ran straight to the house with fear in her eyes, cheeks wet from tears and her whole face had lost its colour. When I asked them what's wrong, they just said that something awful had accrued back home and told me about her families actual job but never went into full detail. Since then I never asked that question again and she would spend some nights at the house on occasions.
"So Seth still went with this guy because he made him feel like he was wanted," I asked Al as he just gave a nod in response.
"He must have felt accepted, wanted. I mean; his ma left him, his dad didn't want him and I let him go. So fitting in somewhere, feeling useful and needed, it's no fucking surprising he went with that son of a bitch," he said as we made it back to his place, got inside and sat down on the couch, I honestly didn't even want to leave from it.
"You make it sound like you've met him. Did you actually know him?"
"Yeah, I know the guy. Two years felt like an eternity after that; I felt so alone, like an outsider in my own hometown, I was isolated and constantly wondering if I should have left with him and then and then I heard that damn motorcycle approaching and he rode in like a knight in shining armour on a steel horse, looking like a whole ass meal. He said he came to rescue me. He said it like he knew, he knew how bad I wanted to get away from here, like he knew how bad I missed him. He wasn’t the same person but I didn’t know that and I don’t really think I’d have given a damn if I did; I loved him so much. I don’t know if he came back hoping to find the parts of himself that he lost or if he wanted me to lose myself along with him but that's what happened in the end."
There was nothing but another moment of silence between us. I really wanted to say something, I really do but I didn't know what to say after hearing such a background but I knew that I have to say something rather than keep quiet.
"You okay Alphonse."
"Yeah, I’m ok. So now he’s here and he wants Betty and I bet it’s just revelling in the fact that you most definitely want to know who or what Betty is, you wanted honesty right?"
"Yes, I was hoping for that."
"Well you gonna get it, back here in the apartment," he said as he got up from the couch and lead me towards a small storage room. Filled with boxes that contain items that are both used and unused, but I certainly wasn't expecting nor ready for the story behind Betty.
