XXVIII The peace that was supposed to be XXVIII

Ava's pov

The morning may have had a rough start but it still worked out in the end, just as I was hoping for. It was actually fun as well. We eat, we drank and even laughed. It's also a bit strange to be a part of it like you were destined to be there and to be surrounded by an amazing group of people. I honestly wish that it could last a bit longer, but sadly Seth had to go. Robin even gave him some cinnamon rolls for the road, and when he left Robin immediately went to watch something on Alphonse's television. She wouldn't admit it but I think that she misses him already.

"Hey, Robin. Are you doing alright?" I asked while bringing her out of a slight daydream.

"Yeah, I'm okay, at least I think so. Thanks for asking though," she said with a smile. I could tell that was a white lie but I know better than to push my friend, if she wants to talk then she'll do it when she felt like it.

"By the way, have you spoken to Al yet? I think the whole thing that has happened today is eating him away."

"I see. I'll go check on him then," I said while getting up and making my way to the kitchen with Robin following slowly behind. And there was Alphonse; washing the cups and dishes in the sink. He looks to be deep in thought, I should see if he's okay.

"You okay Al?"

"Huh? Oh, yeah I'm alright. Just washing dishes, seems fitting; you helped me clean up my mess and now I'm helping clean up yours."

"You didn't have to do that, but thank you," I said as I sat down by the table while Robin stood by the entrance, watching and waiting to see what is about to happen. I guess she wanted to make sure that he apologises for what happened.

"Hey, I'm sorry about all that. Not just getting you involved but...you know...for snapping at you. I wasn't expecting Seth and the thought of you being alone with him was scary, and I mean...I can make a dozen excuses but I just need you to know that I'm not upset with you. I'm actually pretty impressed," he said and it honestly surprised me. I mean I was expecting for him to say sorry but I wasn't expecting him to say that he was impressed.

"You were," I asked him while he just silently nodes.

"The whole thing with Seth could have been a disaster you know. Not just for me but for us; and for him. I was upset that you meddled at first, I thought for a moment you were driven by doubt and mistrust, but you...you didn't just want to make sure that I was ok, but that he was ok too. I know how scary it must have been. Someone from my past who I was so close with coming back, potentially threatening us, you and me...but instead of acting on doubt and fear you just...you just wanted me to be okay. And you wanted him to be okay too, because even with all the bad even with all the mess; Seth...Seth isn't his bad choices. He shouldn't be thrown away and written off, and I was ready to turn him away out of spite, out of anger, out of all that pain...but that wouldn't have let me grow, and it could have crushed any hope he had of getting past this."

"So would you admit that you still care about him," Robin asked him.

"Yeah I mean, of course, I care about him. Of course, it was easy to try and hate him, so I could just push down those feelings and forget. And I'll be honest, it's scary to face it," he responded to her before turning his full attention on me.

"I trust you with me, with my heart and I trust that whatever comes bubbling up out of my heart, will be met with understanding and care. I'm just...I'm so thankful for that. So thankful for you. You've helped me heal and grow so much, you're wonderful and I love you. I love you so much. there are no words for how much I adore you, I just hope...I hope that in time I'll be able to be there for you as you've been here for me."
