Robin's pov

I was sleeping so peacefully, I didn't even want to get up but my face was getting licked. I started to open my eyes to see the wake-up call and surprisingly it was Chomper. Usually, Barkley would be the one to wake me up. I slowly got up and gave him some morning pets, at least I think it's morning. Suddenly everything was starting to come back to me, the events of last night. I immediately picked up my phone in the hopes of receiving a response from Ava while I was asleep but I got nothing and I started to fear for the worst, till a very familiar voice coming from downstairs reassured all those dark thoughts.

"Robin, are you awake yet? If you hurry and get down here. Some of the customers are worried about you!"

I didn't even realise what they are saying till I looked at the time on my phone only to have me shocked. It was well past midday! I have missed hours of work! Not wasting any more time, I instantly got up and ready for the new day. By the time I was finished, I hastily made my way down into the shop and app on my arrival the customers have greeted me with their warming smiles and behind the counter was Ava, working away like usual but they have a brighter smile on their face more than ever before but when they looked at me, their expression changed to the most delightful look I've ever seen. Did something happen last night while they were gone?

"Robin, good to see that you're up! I'm sorry for not waking you up but you looked peaceful, so I thought I'll just let you sleep in for a bit," Ava said to me as she walked over. I should be happy to see that they are here and safe but I'm honestly angry with them for the stunt they did last night.

"Don't think you're out of the woods Ava, we will talk about this when we close up the shop," I said to them as my expression became serious. I didn't bother to say anything else and just went on with work, and I can tell that this is going to be a very long day.

Finally, after hours of awkward working, the closing hours are here with the sound of the great grandfather clock going off in the background. I sat by one of the tables as I watched Ava lock the doors and slowly turned the attention towards me, decided that I wasn't going to wait any longer and started the talk.

"Care to explain Ava," I said to them as I folded my arms while my hardened gaze never left them.

"I'm so sorry Robin, I promise that I never meant to come back late. I got lost and my phone was dead." She hastily responds to me while sitting down across from me with a slight frown on their face. A part of me immediately regrets being this harsh towards them but I have to know what happened last night.

"You said that your phone was dead, yet you somehow managed to find your way back?"

"I had a bit of help from someone." within the minute when Avery said that I was starting to lose my cool.

"So you were lost in the dark with no idea where you were and then a stranger just suddenly walked up to you?!" I said as my voice started to rise.

"Yes. I know that isn't one of the smartest or safest options but I had no other choice! I mean I couldn't just hang outside till the morning, could I?!"

They are right on that one, no matter how hard I thought about their situation. It wasn't the smartest nor safest option but from the sound of it, there wasn't much of a choice. But I still don't like the thought of Ava getting taken in by a stranger and then coming back god knows when. Since we are on the topic, I may as well ask them about the so-called saver.

"Need I ask who this person was?" I said as I was slowly starting to calm down. That was till Ava respond to my question and lord I didn't like it.

"His name was Alphonse. He was a stranger but he's more of a friend now," they said while looking away from me. I was about to shout at them again till I noticed the blushing that was showing on their cheeks; they just meet someone last night and they already like him? I didn't bring myself to say anything as Ava resumed.

"Since my phone was dead I couldn't reach you so when Alphonse invited me to his store, I immediately have to go so that I could charge up my phone. Nothing intense has happened while I was there, honest! We both just sat down and talked, getting to know each other better. He even said that crime isn't a thing here so you don't have to worry about anything! And by the time my phone had enough power, I immediately opened up the map and made my way back here; once I made it back everyone was asleep, even you."

From the moment Ava said all that I instantly wanted to hate this Alphonse but yet, I couldn't. He doesn't sound like a bad guy and even I would be able to tell if he did something to her, plus they are speaking so highly of him. Thinking back to the minute we arrived here, we both have agreed that any change will and would be good.

"You sure that he can be trusted, Ava?" I asked them.

"Trust me, Robin. I know that we can both trust him," they responded with a reassuring smile. If they say he can be trusted then I may as well take their word of it.

"Well okay, but if you end up seeing him again I'm going with you! I want to see it for myself." I said to them.

"I don't have a problem with that."

"Good. Well, now that's out of the way I do feel a lot better. Let's finish cleaning up, shall we?" I said to them with a smile as I got up. Without even saying anything Ava agreed with me and started to pick up where we left off but yet I feel like our new life here is going to be very different now. The only question is would it be for better? Or for the worst?
