Jessica woke during the night. She groaned as the baby punched her bladder repeatedly.
"Are you serious, kid? Cut it out."
Jessica then looked down and smiled when she saw Danny sleeping peacefully, cradling her belly.
"You look so cute, but I have to pee, so I have no choice but to wake you." Jessica whispers.
"Danny.. Danny.."
"Mmm.. Not now, I'm sleeping. Just five more minutes."
Jessica giggles. "Danny, it's me."
Danny opens his eyes and focuses them on Jessica.
"Oh! Jessica, I'm sorry!" He quickly sits up.
"It's okay. Sorry I woke you, but I really have to pee."
"No worries!" Danny sits up.
"Here. Do you need help?" He lifts his hand.
"Oh! Thank you." Jessica smiles and takes his hand.
"No problem.."
Jessica quickly uses the restroom and returns to the room.
"Sarah is out, huh?" Jessica yawns.
"She is!"
"I wish little miss was." Jessica looks down and rubs her bump.
"What time does she usually sleep?"
Jessica giggles. "I don't know, she seems to always be on the move." She says sitting down and taking a sigh of relief.
"Hah! Man, you're gonna have your hands full!"
"I.."
"Oh my gosh, I'm sorry! I don't know how I forgot you're not keeping her. I'm so sorry, Jess."
"No, it's fine!" Jessica sighs and feels her baby kicking her hand. "Her parents will definitely have their hands full."
"Yeah.."
There was a short pause before Jessica started talking. "I have to decide by Tuesday."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah. Well I don't Have to, but my foster parents are making me."
"Why?"
Jessica rolls her eyes. "They're jerks."
"I'm sorry."
"Thanks.... Anyway.. Both couples are great but.. I don't know. They just don't feel like her parents."
"Well you're her mother."
Jessica looks to Danny in tears.
"I'm sorry!" Danny panics thinking he said something to upset Jessica.
"No, no, it's okay. You're right. I am her mother. Danny, I want to keep her."
"You do?"
"Yes but like I told Sarah, I can't be selfish. She deserves so much more."
"You're not selfish for wanting to keep her."
Jessica shakes her head. "I'm not in a good home right now. My foster parents told me they're not planning on keeping me around forever. If I get sent to another home, or a group home which is even worse.. then what will happen to her? Danny, I can't let her have the life I have."
"There's gotta be something, Jess. What if.. what if my parents foster you? Then you can have a forever home, and you can keep the baby."
"What? No. Sarah has already suggested her parents do the same. I can't ask anyone to do that."
"Jessica."
"My mind is made up. I'm giving her away.. I just have to decide if it's the Johnsons, or the Holbert's I'm going to bless with this amazing little girl.."
Danny watched as Jessica looked down and cradled her belly. Jessica truly loved this little baby. She's the only family Jessica has ever known.
