The next morning.
Danny looked up and saw Jessica waddling with her heavy backpack. Her hair was pulled up messily, and she had a miserable look on her face.
As a few girls walked by they whispered and giggled. Jessica knew they were talking about her. She was used to the constant stares. She hated it, but what was she going to do about it?
Danny immediately jumped up and walked over to grab her bag.
"Give me this. I didn't think you'd be here today. What happened?"
"Thank you.. they said I have to come until I have the baby."
"Are you serious? I thought Billy would have maybe said it was okay."
"No." Jessica nods. "That man is so weak. He never stands up to Suzanne."
"I'm sorry, Jess."
"It's okay, I- OOH!" Jessica leans forward and grabs a hold of Danny's arm.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah.." Jessica breathes through the pain while Danny stands there full of nerves.
Jessica finally stands and takes a deep breath.
"I've been having contractions."
"Oh my gosh! You need to go to the hospital!"
"No I'm okay. It's just false labor apparently. Little pains that help my body prepare for the big ones."
"That was a little pain?"
Jessica pouts and nods her head. "Yeah."
"Geez."
"I know.. I'm so tired, Danny. I just want to lay down and not do anything, but I can't because I'm twelve years old and pregnant! I hate Edwin!" Jessica cries.
Danny places his hand on her back and walks her over to the side.
"I never asked to be pregnant. This isn't my fault, and now because of him I have to be pregnant before I'm even a teenager! My body has to go through so many changes, I have to give away a baby I never wanted to give away! All because of that sick perverted man!"
"Jess.." Danny then looked around to see if Sarah was near by.
"How am I going to have a normal life after this, Danny? I'll ache everyday without her."
"I know Sarah and I can't replace your daughter, Jess.. but we'll be here for you always."
"Thanks.." Jessica sniffles.
"No one will ever love me. I'll never get married and have more kids."
"Why would you say that?"
"Because I'm disgusting!"
"You are not!"
"I've been touched by a monster!"
"A very bad thing happened to you, Jessica. But I know there's someone out there for you. You'll make a great mom when the time is right."
Jessica looks into Danny's eyes as her lips quiver.
Danny wipes her cheeks and she gives him the softest smile.
"Jess, you're like the strongest person I've ever met."
"Really? You think?"
"Yeah! No one I know could do what you're doing."
"Thank you.. thank you for talking to me and not being embarrassed to be seen with me."
"Stop that. You're my friend, Jess."
