AMELIA'S POV
Austin quickly placed the thermometer in my ear, waiting for the beep. He pulled it out and marked down my temperature.
"Aussie..." I whimpered nervously, feeling uneasy.
"Yes, princess?" he replied, calmly grabbing the blood pressure cuff and wrapping it around my arm.
"Why does my school require this?" I asked, my voice shaky.
"Well, honey, it's to make sure you're healthy and ready for the school year," Austin explained gently. "All your classmates have to do it too."
"But... but I don't like it," I whined, wishing it would all stop.
"I know, Amelia. It's okay," he reassured me. "We'll get this done really quickly."
He placed his stethoscope in his ears and adjusted the cuff. He started inflating the cuff, and I couldn't help but whine.
"Teffy, make it stop!" I cried, feeling the pressure tighten around my arm.
"Oh, sweetheart, it's almost done," Taylor said softly, giving me a comforting smile. "You're doing great."
Finally, Austin took the cuff off my arm and warmed up his stethoscope in his hands.
"You doing okay?" he asked gently, his voice full of concern.
I nodded quietly, trying to calm myself as he placed the stethoscope on my chest to listen to my heart, then moved it to my back to check my lungs.
"Alright, take some deep breaths for me, hun," Austin instructed softly.
I took deep breaths as he listened to my lungs, trying to hold still. When he was done, he took the stethoscope off and put it back around his neck.
"I'm just going to take a quick look at your ears, nose, and throat, alright?" Austin said, reaching for his otoscope on the wall behind us.
I immediately covered my ears, shaking my head.
"Amelia, it's okay. He won't hurt you," Taylor said softly, trying to reassure me.
"It did last time," I whimpered, remembering the ear infection I'd had the last time I was here.
"Last time, you had an ear infection, honey. That's why it hurt," Austin explained, gently.
I hesitated for a moment but slowly uncovered my ears.
"Thanks, hun," Austin said softly, using the otoscope to check my ears.
He looked inside my ears and nose, then asked me to open my mouth so he could check my throat.
"You're doing so good," he praised, putting the otoscope away.
I immediately curled into the crook of Taylor's neck, wanting this to be over.
"I'm just going to check your reflexes, then you'll need to lay down on the table, okay?" Austin said, trying to keep his tone calm.
I nodded quietly, though I was still holding on tight to Taylor. Austin grabbed the reflex hammer and tapped my legs, making them kick automatically.
"Alright, sweetheart, now I just need you to lie down on the table for me," Austin said sympathetically, noticing how attached I was to Taylor.
"N-n-no," I whimpered, clinging to her even tighter.
"Amelia, it's just for a second," Austin reassured me. "I just need to check your stomach."
"Is it going to hurt?" I asked, my voice trembling.
"Of course not, princess," Austin said, trying to soothe me. "It'll be quick."
I whimpered, feeling nervous. I held on to Taylor tightly as she stood up and tried to lay me on the table.
"Sweetheart, you have to let go of me, princess," she said softly, gently coaxing me.
"Don't let him," I begged, shaking my head.
"It'll be alright, hun," Taylor said, rubbing my back. "He just wants to check your stomach. It'll be fast, and I'll pick you up right after he's done."
I nodded, though I was still scared. Taylor carefully laid me down on the table, and I reluctantly let go of her hand. Austin started feeling my stomach, and I couldn't help but whimper again. I didn't like this at all. Once he finished, he let me sit up again, and I immediately reached out to Taylor, silently asking her to pick me up. She immediately lifted me into her arms.
"Alright, just one more thing, and we're all done," Austin said softly, trying to comfort me.
