TAYLOR'S POV

The family get-together was in full swing, and I loved seeing everyone gathered at Amelia's. As a dentist, I often felt a sense of responsibility towards my family's health, which made it hard to relax fully during events like this. When I spotted Amelia sitting quietly, a pained expression crossing her face, my instincts kicked in. I made my way over, noticing she had a distant look in her eyes, unlike her usual cheerful self.

"Hey, are you okay?" I asked, placing a hand on her shoulder.

She forced a smile that didn't reach her eyes, and I felt a pang of worry.

"Just a little tired," she replied, but I knew her too well.

The tension in her jaw told me otherwise.

"Amelia," I pressed, sensing something deeper.

When she finally confessed about her wisdom teeth, my heart sank. I knew that discomfort could lead to more serious issues if left unchecked.

"Let's get you checked out tomorrow," I suggested, hoping to ease her mind.

I could see the relief wash over her at the idea of having someone she trusted look at her teeth. As I watched her try to engage with the family, I noticed something else. My younger cousin, Chloe, who was only sixteen, was shifting uncomfortably in her seat. I could see her avoiding eye contact, and my intuition kicked in again.

"Chloe, are you alright?" I asked, catching her attention.

She hesitated, glancing around before mumbling, "Yeah, I'm fine."

But I wasn't convinced. "C'mon, you can tell me. Is something bothering you?"

After a moment, she finally admitted, "I think I might have a cavity."

I felt a mix of concern and determination.

"Let's get you both checked tomorrow," I said.

I was glad we could address both issues, but I sensed the fear in them both.
