TAYLOR'S POV

After what felt like an eternity, Jake pulled back and took a deep breath.

"Okay, we've got a bit of a cavity forming on that molar. Nothing too serious, but we should fill it." He said

I swallowed hard. "Right now?"

"Unless you want to wait and let it get worse," he teased gently. "It's up to you."

I took a moment, my hands gripping the sides of the chair. "Alright. Let's just get it over with."

"Great! You'll be in and out in no time," he reassured me, preparing the materials.

As he worked, I focused on the rhythm of his voice, trying to block out the sounds of the tools.

"You know," he said casually, "it's funny how we can spend so much time caring for others' teeth and forget to care for our own."

"Right?" I replied, my heart still racing. "It's like we're so focused on helping others, we neglect ourselves."

"Exactly. It's a tough balance." He looked at me, his eyes soft. "But I'm glad you're here. I want you to feel safe."

"Thank you, Jake. I appreciate it," I said, meaning it wholeheartedly.
