CHLOE'S POV

The next day, I stood outside Taylor's dental office, my stomach a knot of anxiety. I had been dreading this appointment all night, convinced that something terrible would happen. I'd heard horror stories from friends about getting fillings and extractions, and I was terrified of the dentist's chair. Amelia went in first, and I watched her disappear through the door, feeling a mix of envy and fear. I knew she was in good hands with Taylor, but that didn't ease my own worries. I paced back and forth, trying to distract myself, but every tick of the clock made my heart race faster. After what felt like an eternity, Amelia emerged, a relieved smile on her face.

"It's not so bad!" she said, but I could see the tension in her shoulders. "They found out my wisdom teeth are impacted, so I have to get them removed."

My heart dropped.

"Are you okay?" I asked, suddenly terrified at the thought of her undergoing surgery.

"I'll be fine," she assured me, but I could see the worry in her eyes.

Then it was my turn. As I stepped into the examination room, I felt the familiar scent of antiseptic wash over me. Taylor greeted me with a smile, but I could feel my heart pounding in my chest.

"Alright, Chloe, let's take a look," she said, her tone calm.

I settled into the chair, feeling small and vulnerable. The overhead light was bright, and I squinted up at it, trying to breathe through my anxiety. Taylor began the exam, asking questions about my dental hygiene as she checked my teeth.

"Have you been flossing regularly?" she asked, and I hesitated.

I knew I hadn't been as diligent as I should.

"I'll try to do better," I mumbled, feeling embarrassed.

She nodded, continuing her examination.

"Okay, it looks like you have a small cavity on your lower left molar," she said, and my stomach dropped. "We can take care of it today, but you might need a filling."

"Is it going to hurt?" I asked, my voice shaking.

"It might be uncomfortable, but I'll make sure you're numbed first. You'll be okay," she reassured me.

I took a deep breath, grateful for her calming presence. After the initial exam, she took me to another room for the filling. As she prepared the tools, I felt panic rising again.

"What if I can't handle it? What if it hurts?" I say

"Chloe, you're stronger than you think," Taylor said, her voice steady. "Just focus on my voice. We'll get through this together."

As she started the procedure, I felt the numbing agent take effect, and while I could still feel pressure, the fear slowly began to fade. I clenched the armrests, but I kept my eyes on Taylor, who was talking me through every step. When it was over, I couldn't believe how much easier it had been than I'd imagined.

"You did great!" Taylor said, cleaning up. "Just a little bit of soreness afterward, but you handled it like a champ."

As I left the office, I felt a sense of relief and gratitude. "Thank you, Taylor. I was so scared!"

"You're welcome, Chloe. I'm proud of you for facing it" she said with a smile. I knew I could always count on her.
