AUSTIN'S POV

I leaned back in my chair, staring at the ceiling and letting out a frustrated sigh. The weight of the situation was starting to sink in. How the hell am I going to pull this off? I thought to myself, rubbing my temples. The reality of the task at hand was almost as intimidating as the conversation I was about to have. Taylor's management had called earlier, informing me that she needed a physical and updated shots before heading off on tour. Honestly, I had no idea how I was going to get her to come into the office, let alone sit through a physical or worse, agree to getting shots. Taylor's never been a fan of needles, and I knew this was going to be a challenge. I sighed again, trying to shake off the anxiety creeping in. But there was no way around it. If she was going to stay healthy and safe while on tour, we had to make sure she was up to date with everything. I picked up my phone, dialing Taylor's number with a slight hesitation. I could already feel my heart rate pick up, knowing how she'd react. The phone rang a few times before she finally picked up.

"Hey, Austin," she said, her voice laced with confusion.

"Hey, Tef, are you free to talk for a sec?" I asked, trying to sound casual, even though I was anything but.

"Yeah, I'm finished for the day, just packing up. What's up?" she replied, her tone still a bit unclear as to what I was about to ask.

"If you're getting ready to leave, can you swing by my office before you head out of the plaza?" I asked, trying to keep it light.

"Uh, yeah, I'll be there in a few minutes," she replied, sounding a little confused but agreeing nonetheless.

"Thanks, Tef," I said, feeling a bit of relief knowing she'd agreed, even if she didn't know what she was walking into.

We hung up, and I couldn't help but feel the weight of what was about to unfold. I didn't know exactly how this would go. I mean, she had to do it, but I also knew she wasn't going to be happy about it. Honestly, I didn't really want to be the one to put her through this either, but sometimes, you just have to do what's necessary, even if it's uncomfortable. I quickly stood up, walking out of my office to find Jess, my nurse, who'd been working with me for a while now. I explained that Taylor was on her way and that I needed her to send Taylor back to my office as soon as she arrived. Jess gave me a knowing look, clearly understanding that I was trying to prepare for an awkward situation. I returned to my office and pulled up Taylor's name on the schedule, making sure to add the necessary vaccines to her chart. With a deep breath, I headed to the lab to fill the vials. The minutes seemed to drag by, but finally, I heard Taylor's voice through the waiting room as she spoke with Jess. I walked back to my office, trying to steady my nerves, knowing that once Taylor stepped inside, there would be no turning back. She appeared in the doorway, her eyes scanning the room before landing on me. I gave her a sympathetic smile, trying to mask my own anxiety.

"Hey, Tef, take a seat," I said, motioning to the chair across from my desk.

She hesitated for a second, her eyes narrowing as she glanced around the room.

"Jeez, I feel like I'm about to be interrogated," she said, sitting down, clearly sensing something was off.

I chuckled lightly, but I could tell she was already starting to feel the tension in the air.

"I promise, it's not as bad as it seems," I said, hoping to reassure her.

But I knew better than to expect her to believe me just yet. This wasn't going to be easy, and I could already feel the weight of the next few minutes pressing down on both of us. She wasn't going to like this, but she needed it. And somehow, I had to convince her that it was for the best.
