PAIGE'S POV

I hesitated for a moment but finally decided to go next, walking over to the chair. Taylor smiled at me as she carefully switched out the tools on her tray and changed into a fresh mask and gloves. The room felt a little cooler now, and I felt both nervous and excited to get it over with.

"Alright, sweetheart, just laying the chair back now," Taylor said softly, her voice calm and reassuring.

I nodded as the chair slowly tilted back, and I was soon lying flat. The overhead light clicked on, and the beam shone directly over my mouth, making me squint a little. I glanced over at my mom, who was sitting beside me on the stool with Dallas in her lap. I felt a little comforted by her presence.

"You're okay, Paige," my mom said with a gentle smile, her voice steady and soothing.

She reached out and held her hand out to me, and I grabbed it without hesitation. It felt warm and comforting, and I squeezed it tightly, trying to calm the nervous fluttering in my stomach.

"Alright, sweetheart, can you open your mouth nice and wide for me?" Taylor asked, her tone soft but firm.

She sounded so calm, but I couldn't help feeling a little uneasy. I looked at my mom again for reassurance. She smiled back at me, her eyes full of warmth.

"You'll be alright, hun. It doesn't hurt," my mom said, her voice low and steady. "Just squeeze my hand if you get too scared. Taylor will be quick and gentle, I promise."

I nodded at her words, trying to push my fear aside. It still felt overwhelming, but I trusted my mom and Taylor. Slowly, I opened my mouth, still a little unsure, but I tried to stay brave. Taylor moved in, her gentle hands working quickly but carefully as she examined my teeth. It felt strange, but not too bad. She moved her mirror around, inspecting each tooth. She was so focused that I tried to stay still, feeling the coolness of the tools on my teeth and the little tickles as she worked.

"You're doing so well, hun," Taylor praised, her voice soothing. "Just stay open a little longer for me, we're almost done. I'll finish up quick."

I tried my best to stay still, and before I knew it, Taylor had switched to another tool. The cleaning began, and it felt a little ticklish. I couldn't help but squirm a little, but I didn't move my mouth too much. The gentle scrubbing felt like little brushes against my teeth, and it made me giggle slightly, though I tried to hold it in. The sensation was strange but not too bad. Once she finished, she let me close my mouth, and I sighed in relief as she leaned the chair back up. The light above me was turned off, and Taylor smiled at me, her hands reaching up to remove her mask and gloves.

"Good job, Paige! You did so well," Taylor said, her voice full of encouragement.

She threw the gloves and mask into the trash and began switching out the tools again, preparing for the next part.

"Thank you," I said softly, my voice a little shaky as I swung my legs off the chair and stood up.

I was so glad it was over, and I felt proud of myself for getting through it.

Turning to my mom, I grinned a little. "I did it."

My mom smiled back at me, proud of me too. "You did great, sweetheart."

Then she turned to Dallas, who was still curled up in her lap, her face hidden in her chest.

"Dallas, are you ready?" my mom asked gently, her voice full of sympathy.

I could tell my sister was still nervous, but I knew she'd be okay—just like I had been.
