I wake up from yesterday's events, drenched with sweat, not out of fear, but as a result of the sweltering heat. 'Of course, I just remembered today's episode is The Deep End.' Unsurprisingly, the twins are also already awake.
I amble to the living room, seeing Soos, Stan, Dipper and Mabel lying down, all looking extremely enervated by the unabating heat. Dipper was the first person to notice my entrance as he instantly greeted me. "Hey, Magnus."
"You guys look terrible," I spoke frankly, taking a seat next to Dipper on the sofa.
All of them could only collectively groan at my statement.
"On the bright side, pun very much intended, it's opening week at the Gravity Falls Pool." The radio abruptly announces, catching everyone by surprise.
"Gravity Falls Pool?" Mabel asked, her head perking up in interest.
"Today?" Dipper questioned, revitalised by the announcement.
"Pun intended?" Soos asks obliviously.
"Quick! To the car!" Stan exclaimed. Stan then tries to get up from the floor but finds that he is stuck, his shirt pinned down to the wooden boards beneath it. "Hey, kids, a little help here?"
Dipper and Mabel dart to him and both of them pulling spatulas out of nowhere, they manage to free Stan, the wooden tile still sticking onto Stan like a parasite even after he stood up.
"And remember to be on alert for random wildfires!" Toby announces. His announcement, however, reaches Stan's ears a few seconds too late as he had already made his way out of the Shack, immediately greeted by one that sets him on fire, prompting him to scream in anguish. Dipper and Mabel look at me expectantly as we all stand there as still as a sleeping giant, witnessing what was happening and doing absolutely nothing about it.
I glance at the twins suspiciously. "Why are you looking at me?"
"Do we need to help Stan?"
"I think he'll be fine," I reassure, rushing over to Stan's car and the twins following in tow, not wanting to be scorched by those wildfires.
Time Skip
Thankfully, we make it to the pool in one piece and having already changed into my swimsuit, I was ready to swim.
"Ah, the pool! A sparkling oasis of summer enchantment!" Mabel proclaims cheerily.
I smiled at her description. "That's a good way to put it."
Stan looked grumpy as usual, his words reflecting his mood. "Yeah, nothing like sitting in a moist tub with strangers. It's like the bus, but wet."
Meanwhile, Dipper was staring intently at Soos' towel. "Why would a sun need to wear sunglasses?"
"It's best not to think about it."
"Whoa, whoa!" Mabel stands in front of us, extending her hands in front of us to halt us all. "Stop the presses!" Mabel's eyes glow at the sight of the boy with long hair at the edge of the pool. "Who's that?" 'Mermando.'
"Oh, yeah," Soos chucks some chips into his mouth and crunches on them loudly. "Word is, dude never leaves the pool. People say he's a Mysterious loner."
Mabel's eyes beam again, her eyes still transfixed on Mermando. "Is it getting hot out here or is it just that guy?"
"It's the hottest day of the year, Mabel," Dipper states plainly. "Besides, can't you go for one week without having a new crush on some random guy?"
I nod in agreement. "Yes, please listen to Dipper."
"Uh-uh," Mabel rejects, continuing to make Mermando her focal point. A few moments later, Mabel gasps, pointing at his moustache hairs. "Look at his little moustache hairs!"
