At about midnight, I was awoken by Dipper's cry of disgust and repulsion, presumably after he accidentally breaks his pen by chewing on it. 'Who even chews on their pen?'
I groan silently, not wanting to wake up Casey who was still sleeping peacefully and tranquilly beside me as evidenced by her serene face.
I got up slowly and after removing Casey's hands around me delicately, I put on my glasses. I hear Casey stir slightly beside me, probably due to the fact that she felt my absence.
"M-Magnus, where are you going?" Casey asked softly, her eyes barely opening.
"Just continue sleeping, I need to talk to Dipper," I reassure her.
"Mmmm," Casey mumbled and shut her eyes again.
I climb down the ladder and sat next to Dipper, whose shirt was now blemished with the sea-blue ink of his pen.
"Still trying to find the author?" I asked.
"Yeah, sorry for waking you up," Dipper rubbed his neck abashedly.
"It's fine, just try to keep it down. Casey is sleeping," I whispered.
"Oh yeah, sorry about that. Anyways, have you seen Mabel?"
The instant Dipper finishes his sentence, Mabel bursts into the room with a spring in her step and flops onto Dipper's bed.
"Hey, bro-bros. Look what I got!" Mabel shouted.
"Shhh, Casey's sleeping," I scolded her quietly.
"Oh sorry," Mabel whispered. "But look at what I got!" Mabel showed us the green bottle she received from Mermando. 'I don't know when she received the bottle, so your guess would be as good as mine.'
"Yay, a filthy green bottle!" Dipper cheered sarcastically.
"It's a bottle message from Mermando, remember? He was part fish, part shirtless guy," Mabel reminisced. 'Yeah, I guess you could put it that way.'
Mabel suddenly gasps, "What if he wants to get back together?"
"I wouldn't get your hopes up, Mabel," Dipper told her anxiously.
"Too late! Hopes are way way up!" Mabel opens the bottle cap and flips the bottle upside-down to retrieve the note that it sheltered within its walls.
Mabel started to squeal excitedly and shook her legs quickly. "Dear Mabel... So far so good! It is with a heavy heart... So far so good!...that I must inform you, I'm getting married?!"
"I would greatly appreciate it if you could keep your voice down," I whispered and glared at Mabel.
Mabel rolled her eyes but spoke with a quieter tone this time. "Geez, you are such a caring boyfriend. Anyways, let me continue reading."
"In order to prevent an undersea civil war... arranged wedding...Queen Of The Manatees?!" Mabel stared at the picture Mermando sent her. "And she's so beautiful!"
Mabel sighed dejectedly, "This can't be happening!" Tears started to form in Mabel's eye, but she wipes them away quickly with her sweater's sleeve.
"Oh, Mabel. You'll get over him eventually," Dipper attempted to comfort her.
"Yeah, I'm sure you'll find another boy," I added.
"Sure or know?" Mabel asked, her eyes staring directly into mine, trying to search for the answer she so desired.
She gave up after a few seconds of trying and coming away with nothing. After reaching for her scrapbook and flipping it to the appropriate page, she began to rant about her failed romances. "Both of you don't understand. On my first day here, I made this page for summer romances. Look at my luck. Turned out to be gnomes, child psycho, made out with his own hands. And now... I wish I could just forget about them forever," Mabel closes her book dolorously.
