The next morning, Dipper was watching television, munching on some cereals while he was at it. Meanwhile, I was reading a novel in the living room. Well, that is what you may think I was doing. I wasn't actually reading the novel I was holding. Instead, I was ruminating deeply on what I read in the journal yesterday. 'I've got to tell the twins about this. What I read yesterday was beyond shocking, it's too important for me not to tell the twins. Plus, I told them I wouldn't keep secrets from them anymore,' I told myself internally after deliberating and debating with myself internally for quite some time now.
Stan interrupted me from my train of thoughts.
"Who wants Stan-cakes?" Stan asked Dipper and me proudly with his frying pan in hand, seemingly quite satisfied with the new dish he managed to cook up.
Stan described his new dish honestly. "They're like pancakes, but they probably have some of my hair in 'em."
"Pass," Dipper simply told Stan, his eyes still glued onto the television screen.
I lowered the novel I was "reading" and let Stan down gently. "Yeah, I'm going to have to give that one a hard pass."
"Aww, come on!" Stan grumbled in frustration. Suddenly, the door of the Mystery Shack bursts open, revealing Mabel holding a newspaper with a broad smile, a smile that suggested that she was more buoyant than she usually was.
Mabel squealed, "It's here!"
Mabel ran into the Shack and around the living room, screaming in excitement and knocking into Stan in the process. "Aaah! Oh, it's here! It's here, it's here! I've been waiting all morning and it's finally here! The Gravity Falls Gossiper accepted my article about summer fashion tips for squirrels. My picture is gonna be in the newspaper! Check it!"
Mabel showed us the front page of today's edition of the Gravity Falls Gossiper confidently.
Stan read the headline displayed in capital letters aloud. "Pacifica Northwest declares v-neck the look of the season! What am I looking at here?"
"Woah, woah, WHAT?!" Mabel asked in disbelief and looking at the newspaper again, she was stunned to see Pacifica's picture and name on the first page of the newspaper.
"Looks like someone bought their way to the front page," Dipper said in annoyance as he looked at the newspaper.
"Is it legal for a child to wear that much make-up?" Stan asked us questioningly after looking at Pacifica's photo.
"Ugh, Pacifica! She always ruins everything!" Mabel complained.
Dipper, after seeing Mabel's dejected look, tries his best to cheer her up. "Aw, cheer up Mabel! I mean, no one even reads newspapers anymore."
"Uh, I beg to differ. In a town like this where technology isn't widely available-" I stopped talking after Dipper clears his throat loudly and glares at me.
"I mean yeah, no one even reads newspapers anymore." I chuckled nervously and glanced back at Dipper who was nodding in approval.
I placed my book on a table in the living room and went over to comfort Mabel, patting her on the back sympathetically. "Come on Mabel, if it's any consolation, you give better fashion advice than Pacifica any day of the week."
"Yeah, coming from a guy who has little interest in fashion," Mabel muttered quietly.
Dipper snorted after hearing this, earning himself a punch on the shoulder from me. Dipper shot me a glare shortly afterwards, a glare that I ultimately ignored and decided to shift my attention to Mabel.
