Time Skip

I hear a boom in the distance and I don't know how, but I felt the loss of someone important and powerful. I look up at the Fearamid and see curlicues of smoke rising into the air, a gaping hole left at the side of the aberrant pyramid. 'Rest in peace, Time Baby.'

I divert my attention back to the gang, which comprised me, Toby, Wendy and Dipper. We were all hiding behind the fence to Bud's auto-mart, Wendy scanning the immediate vicinity for people with the binoculars she had somehow procured. Once she was confident that the coast was clear, she gestured for us to proceed and we comply, running to all the cars that were right in front of us. "The abandoned auto-mart. Free cars right for the hot-wiring. We just found our ride to Mabel. I wonder if they have a tank. I've always wanted to drive a tank!"

Dipper walked tentatively and slowly. "I can't believe this place is just abandoned." And right after he says that, we hear Toby collapsing to the ground with a 'thunk', a multitude of tranquillizer darts protruding from his head.

"Spoke too soon, Dipper," I said in annoyance.

"Oh no! Tony!" Wendy cried in distress. "Was it Tony? I can never remember his name."

"It's Toby," I answered as three monster car headlights in front of us turn on one after another as if they were waiting for their turn, the prisoners in them peeking out of their respective vehicles and cheering.

"Listen Discount Auto Warriors!" Wendy shouted sternly.

"We just wanna make it to that bubble out east; we have no quarrel with you!" Dipper affirmed.

"Oh, but that's where you're wrong! Hands where I can see 'em," Gideon ordered in the shadows, using his voice lowering megaphone to intimidate us.

We did as he commanded, holding our hands up high in surrender.

"Y'all fellers ain't goin' nowhere," Gideon continued.

"Y'all?" Wendy squinted her eyes to get a closer look at the figure in the darkness.

"Fellars? Wait...Gideon!?" Dipper asked suspiciously.

Someone casts light at Gideon. "That's Sheriff Gideon!" Then, putting down his megaphone, he adds, "Under the authority of Bill Cipher, I place you three under arrest! Oh, hi, Wendy! Have we formally met?"

The prisoners lead us to Gideon, forcing us down with the butts of their spears, causing us to land face-first on the floor in front of Gideon.

"Wooooo-we! Look what the apocalypse dragged in! Y'all are in a twelve-piece bucket of deep-fried trouble now! Ghost-Eyes! Spitoon," Gideon spits his chewing gum into the spitoon Ghost-Eye kindly holds out for Gideon.

"Ugh, it's Gideon," Dipper said in disgust.

"And he's gotten folksier," Wendy added.

"Ma' old pal Bill figured you might try to rescue Mabel. So he appointed me, master of these wastelands, and keeper of the bubble! My sweet precious Mabel's trapped inside and I HAVE THE ONLY KEY!" Gideon shows us the key to Mabel's bubble to substantiate his claims. "Wrapped around my... well I wouldn't call it a neck exactly, wrapped around this little pocket of fat under ma' head?"

"Gideon, you have no right to keep her there," Dipper said sternly and furiously, scowling at the albino-skinned ten-year-old.

"Bill explained it to me nice and simple: she was always destined to be mine!" Gideon took out a newspaper clipping of him and Mabel, staring at it dreamily. "And now that I have her in a cage she'll learn to love me! I have an eternity to wait! Ghost-Eyes! Ready to escort our friends to Bill's dungeon?" Gideon snaps his fingers, commanding Ghost Eye to haul us up silently.

"Stop," I ordered in a terrifyingly silent voice. "Or face the consequences."

"Oh, I almost forgot you were here, Magnus," he spat in my direction. 'He has the temerity to do that to me! That little swine, I've got nothing else to lose now.'

I draw energy from the Axolotl for what felt like the millionth time today, feeling the purple glow surround me like a powerful flame that could never be doused. I ball my fists, making all the prisoners around me levitate with telekinesis, all of them struggling and kicking about in the air, trying to release themselves from my hold to no avail.
