'Why is there a box of tissues next to me?' I asked myself after I woke up. Peeping over my bed, I see that the twins had already left for the library.
'Wait, I remember now. I was sick yesterday, assumably from standing in the rain yesterday. Thankfully we rested yesterday and nothing happened yesterday. I should be feeling way better now so I can help the twins defeat Bill, again.'
I get up and as soon as I do, a wave of fatigue washes over me, making me lie back down in bed.
"Why do I feel so weak?" I asked myself and sneeze, the flu from yesterday coming back to haunt me. I feel my forehead with my hand and withdraw my hand from my forehead seconds later, the temperature of my forehead telling me that I was having a fever.
Stan suddenly peeks inside the room and asks me, "Kid, you okay?"
"Not really, Stan. I still feel sick from yesterday," I told Stan and coughed momentarily before regaining my equanimity.
"Magnus, wait here." Stan walked out of the room to get something. 'I'm assuming it's medicine.'
My suspicions were proven correct as Stan came back minutes later and handed me a paracetamol tablet with a glass of water.
I looked at him gratefully and thanked him weakly. "Thanks, Stan."
"No problem, but you need to rest. Don't go out with your siblings today," Stan ordered me.
"Okay Stan, I won't." I handed him the cup he had given me earlier and Stan walked out of the room, leaving me in peace and giving me time to think about my sickness and what I read about my necklace the other day.
'A common cold usually isn't this serious for someone with a strong and healthy immune system. I shouldn't be having symptoms as severe as this, I suspect someone else, someone stronger is behind all this.'
"Hey, Magnus," I hear someone say quietly from the bottom of my bunk bed. I peek over my bed and find that it was Dipper who greeted me.
"Hi, Dipper." I broke into a coughing fit after I greeted Dipper.
"Whoa, whoa okay. Don't talk, just use gestures or just write down what you want to say. Have you taken your medicine?"
I nod my head in response to his question.
"Good, you need to stay here and rest. Don't worry about us, Mabel and I will look after ourselves."
I pretended to use my hand to write something down, essentially signing for him to get a pen and a sheet of paper for me.
He seemed to understand what I meant because he nodded his head and climbed up to my bunk bed with a sheet of paper and pen in hand.
He then took a seat on my bed and looked at me patiently, waiting for me to write my messages and questions for him.
I began to write down what I wanted to say. 'Thanks, Dipper. Make sure to stay at least one meter away from me, I don't want to infect you with my virus.' 'I think you all know what virus I'm referring to. Better safe than sorry even though the year now is only 2012.'
"Okay, got you." Dipper shuffled away from me as far as possible on my bed.
'Good, my next question to you Dipper, is Casey with you?'
"Yes, she is with us. Why? Still thinking about her?" Dipper teased me and smirked.
'Don't make me sneeze on you Dipper.'
"Okay, okay. Calm down," Dipper said anxiously and put his hands in front of him protectively.
I shook my head. 'Chill Dipper, I was just joking. If Casey is with you, does that mean you told her about your journal?'
