It was the night before the 24th of August, a day before the events of Dipper and Mabel vs. the future. Coincidentally, ten days had already come to pass since the events of Roadside Attraction and Casey's departure, with nothing significant happening. I mean, if anything crucial happened aboveground, I would not know of it because I've been spending most of my time with Ford in his secret lab, constantly training myself and only coming upstairs to eat the periodical meal or get some sleep, however scant that may be.
We just finished carrying out an experiment with Ford's new invention, with the results of the experiment turning out to be highly successful.
"Magnus, I was just thinking and I don't know if you have thought of this before, but we can use the quantum destabilizer to send Bill back to his own dimension."
"No, that won't do. We'll need him to remove him from this universe permanently so that won't do. Plus, even if we do use it, we only have one shot at aiming at him and anything can happen. What if you miss your shot?"
Ford rubs his finger on his chin in thought. "I suppose you do make a good point. How about this? We use the quantum destabilizer first and if it doesn't work, we'll carry out the plan we have already discussed. Wait! I almost forgot that we could use the zodiac to defeat Bill!"
"Ford, that is a great idea but in order to use the zodiac, we need to assemble and gather the ten or maybe eleven specific people (since I'm here) that match their respective symbols on the wheel. Do you know everyone we require for this ritual? And how do you know that the people you require will assemble at the same place and at the same time?" I questioned.
"You're right, well, I guess we'll do this then. We use the quantum destabiliser first. If that fails, we'll use the zodiac, assuming that everyone we need assembles at the same place at the same time and if worse comes to worst, we'll carry out your plan."
"Fine, we'll stick with that arrangement then. Anyway, well done, Ford. Your genius has just saved the universe in its entirety," I complimented, clapping him on the back. "Thank you Ford, for dedicating the time to create this."
"Of course," Ford beamed. "Well, we can only hope that it doesn't malfunction and that you are able to carry out that trick you've been practising. You've been getting better, want to give it one last try before you go to bed?"
I nod, sending us into the mindscape instantly, the days I spent down here not going to waste as I became more confident with using the necklace. Establishing a connection had never felt easier and I was just about to draw a little more energy from the Axolotl, the extra boost in energy helped me to execute my trick easier and also helped to accelerate the process of using other powers that I had learnt before, making them more effective and potent.
"Alright, now remember, don't draw too much energy from the Axolotl," he reminded and cautioned before I began. I nod, drawing a little more energy from the Axolotl until I felt that I had reached my limit, my body brimming and bustling with energy.
I envision my surroundings changing to the one of my shared bedroom with the twins and opening my eyes, I saw that it had changed. It took me every sinew and cell in my mind to hold it for only a minute before I saw the surroundings fade away and revert to the normal black and grey surroundings.
I grasp at my heart and my knees buckled, feeling a searing sensation gripping my mind and heart. "Well, we'll have to hope that's enough time. Are you okay?"
"Yes," I said in between gulps of air. "I'm alright."
Ford lent me a hand, helping me back to my feet. "Good, get some rest because tomorrow is a big day."
