'A brand?'

'Yea, Lemillion.' He said, wiping some of the blood on the ground. They saw the bleeding mark of Satana. 'The most dangerous Yakuza Group in Japan back in their prime. And they branded me. I didn't want it. I was begging them to stop. But they didn't.'

'Wait... You were forced to join?'

'Not only was I forced to join, but I was also raised there. I was born into the Yakuza, I was raised as a Yakuza.'

'What do you mean by that?' Fatgum asked.

'Remember when I said my father's alias was 'The Mindful Killer'?'

'Yes?' Mirio raised an eyebrow, confused.

'He was the leader of Satana.'

'Wait your father was a Yakuza? What about your mother? She was a pro hero right? You said she died fighting a villain.' Fatgum assumed she must have been a Hero if she was fighting villains.

'All other pros were too afraid. And The Number 1, Nana Shimura, wasn't going to get there for another hour. My mother stepped in, but she wasn't a hero. Although she did save lives every day.' Kai smiled, it was the first time they saw him smile. A real, genuine smile, that one at the interrogation was fake, anyone could tell. 'She was a surgeon. She was the kind of person who could light up a room by just walking in. When she smiled, other people smiled back. She was amazing at keeping patients calm while going under anesthetics. Her quirk was called 'Repair'. My quirk is an offshoot of hers. They're very similar apart from one minor difference. I can use it on myself and the drawback is different.'

'Overhaul has a drawback?' Rock Lock asked.

'Yes, with excessive use my hands will start bleeding. And gloves dampen the effect.'

'So that's why you even crazier stuff once you took them off!' Mirio exclaimed.

'Exactly. My mother died to save Osaka. She created five spires. Two piercing his back, one piercing each arm, and one piercing his stomach. In the process of puncturing his stomach, she impaled her own chest. She wasn't a pro by any means, but she died saving lives.' He seemed to like talking about the better parts of her, even if he didn't prefer talking about the way she died.

'How old were you when she died?'

'I was only two.' He answered.

'Oh...' Mirio mumbled. 'He didn't ask to be a villain... He didn't ask for any of this.'

Kai's smile disappeared and turned into a sad frown. 'The only major difference between my past and Eri's is that she was saved. I wasn't. They tried Phantom Arrow, Nana Shimura, and Cipher. But, one gave up, another was killed by her grandson's quirk manifesting, and the last one was killed by my father.'

'Oh... So only three tried?'

'Well, yeah. But that 'fearless' attitude I have. I got it from what I did when I was 15.'

'What did you do?'

'I started tearing Satana apart from the inside out. No one could imagine it was me. Once the most loyal ones were eliminated, I was able to call the police and tell them our exact location.' Kai explained.
