'Checkmate.' Kai muttered.

'What the- Ughh I cannot beat you!' Hari complained.

He smiled softly, Kai was enjoying playing with Kurono. Back with his Father he only had Manticore to play with because everyone else was busy and she was of the few who knew how to play and liked the game. So when he heard Hari also liked the game he was excited to play.

'Kai, Hari.' Pops' voice said from the door behind them.

'Oh, hello Sir.' Kai greeted.

'Hello, I would like you two to meet someone. Please come with me.'

They got up and followed him through the base until they got to the second smallest bedroom in the base. Kai was confused when he looked inside. There was a girl inside, with short pale blue hair, a small tan horn on her head, pale skin, and a white dress. 'This is my Granddaughter. My daughter brought her to me because she could no longer take care of her. After an,' He hesitated 'Incident with her quirk.'

From the way he spoke, Kai could figure Pops knew what happened with her quirk, but didn't want to talk about it.

'She came to us without a name, my daughter left before she told me. I want you two to take care of her.' He smiled.

Kai covered his mouth, suddenly nauseous. 'S-Sir would it really be the best idea for me? We don't know if my Father's quirk has been blocked yet.'

Pops put a hand on his head like he usually did whenever Kai was anxious. 'It'll be fine Kai, you have Hari, Sakaki, Nemoto, and me. We'll help I promise.' He smiled. 'You two get to know her now.'

Kai and Hari walked over to her. She was no older than four. She had a sad look to her. 'Hi.' Hari waved.

She didn't speak, only nodded. 'Hm.' Kai hummed, she was strange. 'Eri.'

'Huh?'

'Pops said she doesn't have a name right? What about Eri?' Kai asked.

Hari remembered a story Kai told him about Manticore, the story of him finding out her name was Eri Haiburiddo. He smiled, 'Sure, Eri sounds great.'

Eri fell asleep leaning on Kai, the man sighed and just decided to let it happen. He didn't mind and she seemed comfortable.

Deku walked in and told him that they were leaving. Kai very carefully picked Eri up and handed her to Deku. He walked back over to his bed and laid down. 'Hey, Kai.' Deku caught his attention.

'Yes?' He asked.

He smiled at him, 'I'm glad that she's happy with you. She's been thinking about you a lot, so I'm glad you've changed.'

Kai nodded and waited until the door closed again to get back up and take his shirt off. He avoided looking a the mirror, he was thinking of turning it around or maybe smashing it.

'Hey, Overhaul.' Fatgum's voice said.

'Ugh, why does everyone have to bother me when I want to sleep? This never would've happened at the Hassaikai.' He thought bitterly. 'Yes?'

'Just wanted to say goodnight! So goodnight! And thanks for being such a good sport today!'

Kai sighed, 'Yeah, sure. G'night.'

After a few minutes, a lot of deep breathing, and a stinging pain in his back he finally fell back asleep, and this time he wasn't woken up until morning.
