'P-Poltergeist?!' He asked, the ghost's body stopped trembling, and his pupil went back to normal.'That.' He mumbled. 'That's my name. Poltergeist. That's all you need to know.'
'Okay, I'm sorry,' He clung to him, surprising the ghost. 'I won't ask again, I'm sorry... Please don't do that again...' Tears drained from his eyes. He didn't mean to hurt him. He didn't want to hurt anyone. 'I'm sorry.'
Poltergeist just glared at him, pushing himself off the wall with his free hand and then pulled on Kai's ear. 'Don't pity me brat. I don't need it. Let go of me now.'
Kai let go and pulled his hands to his chest, 'I'm sorry Poltergeist... I'm sorry... I didn't mean to. I'm sorry.'
Poltergeist stared for a while, and then sighed. He ruffled his hair, 'Don't worry about it kid. If it makes you feel better, you can call me Senpai, only if you'd like.'
Kai looked up at him, 'Senpai?'
Poltergeist smiled and nodded. 'Sure kid.'
~
'Your family? Is that what you think of them? Why? What have they-'
'Done for me? More than you have. More than you ever will.' Kai growled, what was going on? Kai had never felt this way... He had never felt so angry at his Father before. He's felt fear, he's felt sadness, he's felt intimidation, but never anger. Never that he could remember anyway.
'Aww, Angel~ Don't be like that.' Terugo grabbed him by the collar and kissed his neck, only to be met with suffocation as Kai tightened his grip around the man's neck.
Terugo breathed and gasped for air. 'K-Kai-'
'Shut up. I don't want to listen to your voice.' Kai hissed, but he noticed something.
Terugo was still alive.
Kai's quirk wasn't activating. How... Did he lose it? Or... Is he gaining control? Is getting out his frustration enough to help him control Overhaul? 'I never want to hear your voice again.' He snarled, 'I don't want to see your face, I don't want to listen to your threats, I want to control my life. I don't want anyone else to control me ever again. Now listen to me very closely, are you listening?'
Terugo nodded meekly, he had never been so scared of Kai before, it was always the other way around. What the hell was going on? When did Kai get so intimidating?
'You're going to go downstairs, tell her you're ready to go back to prison, you're going to leave, and you'll never enter my life again. Understand?' Terugo nodded. 'Verbal. Answer.'
'Okay! Okay okay! Just don't kill me!'
Kai nodded and got off of him. 'Go.'
~
Terugo did exactly as he was told. He told the guard he was ready, and they left. Whether he was going to stay away or not depended on how badly Kai scared him.
'Kai,' Hari chuckled, 'I heard... All of that. That was amazing! You did it, you stood up to your old man!'
Kai smiled and looked at his hands. 'I did, didn't I?'
'You did, and I am so proud of you.' Hari smiled. 'I still have one question though.'
'Yeah?'
'Why did you put up with that absolute bitch for so long?' Kurono frowned, confused as to what on Earth Kai was thinking.
Kai looked back up at him, still smiling. 'I was always afraid I'd lose control of Overhaul and he'd have to save me before I hurt someone.'
'Then what changed? I mean I'm happy for you, but what happened?' Fatgum asked.
Kai took off the gloves that he always wore to dampen his quirk, 'I got out my aggression. I finally vented out all the frustration, and I think I have more control of my power.'
Hari smiled, 'My power', he hasn't referred to his power as his own since he met him.
Kai smiled, 'I don't think I have to be afraid anymore.'
