Flowers

Kai walked home from the store, he had been on the news after the Satana raid and people kept stopping him to apologize for the life he had to live. He did appreciate that people cared but it was getting overwhelming.

Finally, the people stopped talking to him and he was able to calm down. It's been two months since his father sent someone to kill Pops and he was still getting Flashbacks to the body every time he stepped into Pops's- Into his office. He sighed and pushed his hair out of his face. 'It's gotten longer, I should probably have Hari cut it.' He muttered.

Speaking of Hari, he set the shopping bag down and brushed the petals of a white daisy. 'Hari loves daisies.' He muttered. He didn't like to pick flowers off the street so he went to the store. He bought a couple for him and walked back home. It was by now he memorized the maze that was the Shie Hassaikai Stronghold. He knew all the shortcuts, the secret entrances, everything. He took a couple of shortcuts to get to Hari's room.

He took a slow breath and knocked on the doors. They were 19 now and had been dating for five years, but he still wasn't used to giving Hari gifts.

The door slid open to reveal Hari had been experimenting with different looks again. Right now he was wearing a loose pink T-Shirt, light gray sweatpants, barefooted, and wearing a little bit of makeup. Kai blushed and handed him the flowers before he even had a chance to speak, 'I-I saw them in the store and-' Kai didn't get to finish his sentence before Hari hugged him.

'Thank you, Angel!' He smiled, kissing his neck.

'U-Uh... Right of course.' He replied, hugging him back. 'I love you...' He whispered.

'I love you too Kai.'

Rock Lock scrambled to get up and ran out the door, stumbling a little bit. Niki continued hugging Kai, and in turn, Kai held Niki in his lap, rubbing his back and saying he was sorry for hurting his hands.

'It's okay Mr. Chisaki. I did it so that you wouldn't be hurting. It's okay.' He said.

Fatgum readjusted the range to be 500 Meters. Which was twice the amount it was before Rock Lock changed it. 'I'm so, so sorry Overhaul. If I knew that Takagi would do that to you I would have found anyone, and I mean anyone else.'

'It's okay Fatgum.' He said, 'I know you wouldn't have approved.'

Toyomitsu smiled and said he was going to go get a snack. Kai nodded and slowly Niki fell asleep. Kai remembered all the times Eri would fall asleep in his arms like this. Niki kinda reminded him of Eri in other ways too. His willingness to stand up for him, the way he's not afraid to speak out, the way he wanted to help Kai with or without knowing the story.

He sighed and gently moved him to another square of the couch and laid his head down on his lap. He picked his book back up and started reading.

'Y'know for someone who tortured a little girl for a year you're surprisingly good with kids.' Fatgum observed.

'Umm... Thank you?' Kai phrased it like it was a question, he wasn't sure if it was an insult or a compliment.

Fatgum realized what he said and frantically apologized, 'I didn't mean it like that I promise!'

Kai snickered, 'It's fine Fatgum.'

'Alright just making sure.' Fatgum smiled. 'Sorry again though.'

'It's fine, really.'

The doorbell rang out through the house, 'Hm? I wonder who that is?' Fatgum thought and walked to the door.

'Uhh, this is for a... Chisaki, Kai?'

Kai flinched, who would send him anything?

'So Kai, I know you're dating Chrono and all but... Who are these from even?'

Kai looked back, it was a bouquet of daisies. White daisies. The only other person who knew that Chrono liked daisies was...

'Get Chrono out of Tartarus. Now.' He demanded.
