"What should I make for dinner tonight?" Hailey asked Jay as they walked through the grocery store.
"Wanna do fajitas?" Jay asked.
"That sounds amazing. You go pick the chicken and steak, I'll go get peppers and avocado. Do we want salsa? I finished ours yesterday,"
"I'll grab salsa, chips, and tortillas," Jay kissed her and walked off, leaving Hailey to go pick out the bell peppers and avocado. She also grabbes an onion before she went and found Jay.
"Do you wanna go ahead and get stuff for the rest of the week?" He asked.
"Sure," she shrugged and they walked through the store and got food for the week.
When they got home, Jay put the groceries away while Hailey took a shower and changed into leggings and a sweatshirt.
"Can you do the meat, please?" She asked as she started rinsing the peppers.
"Sure, want me to grill it outside?" He asked.
"If you want to," she nodded. Jay went and started the grill he had on the balcony and Hailey seasoned the chicken and steak.
"I'm gonna take a super quick shower while the grill warms up," Jay told her and she nodded, turning the TV on to catch the weather before changing the channel again.
Jay came out in his own joggers and lomg sleeve shirt, and Hailey came and kissed him.
"I love you," she beamed.
"I love you, too," he smiled down at her and gave her a kiss then went to check the grill.
Hailey turned the stove on so it would warm up for her to do the onions and peppers and she started cutting them.
Jay had the balcony doors open so they could still talk and he took the meat out, putting it on.
"What do you wanna do after dinner?" He asked her while she put the peppers and onion on the stove.
"It's actually kinda nice outside, wanna just sit on the balcony for a bit?" She suggested.
"That sounds amazing," Jay told her with a smile.
When the meat was done and resting before Jay would cut it up, Jay got everything off the stove and Hailey grabbed the avocado and went to cut it in half.
"How many tortillas do you want?" Jay asked as he grabbed plates.
"Three, please," she said and brought the knife down on the avocado in her hand. Only she missed and the knife slipped down the edge of the avocado, straight into her hand.
Hailey froze, the avocado fell to the floor and the knife dropped after, leaving a gash across the palm of her right hand, from her pointer finger to her wrist.
"Hails?" Jay turned at the commotion and gasped when he saw Hailey's hand covered in blood.
Hailey turned and looked at him, eyes wide and face pale. "Jay," she whimpered.
"Crap, okay, we need to go to med," he grabbed a towel and moved her over to the sink to rinse the cut.
Hailey looked away when she saw how deep it was, trying not to gag. The shock was wearing off and it HURT. "Owwww," she whimpered, trying to pull away.
"I know, I know," Jay kissed her head and turned the water off. He dried it with one towel then grabbed another and tied it around her hand, then put an extra one around that. It was bleeding a ton.
"Do you think you can walk?" Jay asked, knowing she was a little dazed.
Hailey nodded a little and walked towards the door so they could get their shoes. Jay grabbed both of their wallets and led her down to the truck and got her buckled in, then drove to med. By the time they got there, the adrenaline and shock were gone and Hailey was silently crying from the pain. She was woozy and scared she'd torn things or had nerve damage, which would end her career.
