(This is another request! Jay goes back to work three weeks after Oakley was born, and Hailey's got 9 more weeks of maternity leave left. The first couple days alone are a little overwhelming. Also, I'm writing this with extreme feels and baby fever because my best friend is currently in the hospital, waiting to be induced to have her baby girl.)

"Are you sure you have to go back?" Hailey asked as Jay got ready on a Wednesday morning.
"I'm sure, babe. It's only three days this week, and Voight said he won't keep me past 5:00 at all the next couple weeks. You're amazing with Oakley, Hails. It's going to be okay, I promise," Jay came and kissed Hailey.
They'd neither one been alone with Oakley for more than a few hours, so Hailey was nervous about a whole day. She knew she could do it, but they'd been tag teaming with feedings, changes, and clean up. Now it would just be Hailey.
"But if something happens, you'll come?" She bit her lip nervously, looking up at him.
"Yes, and I'll come home for lunch if you want," he reassured her, kissing her again.
"Okay. Thank you. I love you, please be safe for us," Hailey hugged him tight and he left for work.
She sighed and looked over at Oakley, who was asleep in her swing. "You can do it," she whispered to herself.
Oakley had just had a bottle thirty minutes ago, so she decided to pump while the three week old slept. When she finished pumping, she cleaned up and ate breakfast. When she finished, Oakley was waking up, and it had started snowing.
"Hi, baby girl. Would you like to get out of your swing?" Hailey smiled down at her and Oakley cooed and moved her arms.
"I'll take that as a yes. Mama will get you out," Hailey turned the swing off and lifted the now 8 pound baby to her chest. She sat on the couch and moved Oakley so she was cradled in her arms and smiled down at her.
Oakley looked around with her bright blue eyes, making soft noises. Hailey stroked her cheek gently and turned the tv on. Once she found something that didn't annoy her, she changed Oakley's diaper and did a little tummy time with her until she started fussing.
"You're just like your daddy, never skipping a meal and making sure everyone knows when it's time to eat," Hailey laughed a little as she lifted Oakley onto the changing pad they kept in the living room and changed her diaper.
Oakley was growing increasingly upset as she waited to eat and her cries made Hailey anxious. "Oaks, I'm working on it. Please be patient with mommy," Hailey said as she carried her into the kitchen.
Hailey did formula and while she was waiting for it to mix, Oakley screamed even louder, making Hailey flinch. Her eyes filled with tears and she wished she hadn't pumped so she could just lift her shirt and feed Oakley. "Please, Oakley," she begged as she got the top on the bottle.
Finally, as Hailey felt a few tears fall, she got the top on and popped it in Oakley's mouth. The three week old was instantly quiet and Hailey walked to the rocking chair and sat down. Her emotions were still all over the place as her hormones were still balancing out, and she burst into tears. She wanted Jay to be home with them.
Oakley finished eating and Hailey burped her, but Oakley ended up spitting up on Hailey, which only added to the wave of emotions flowing over Hailey, and she started crying harder.
Oakley was asleep, so Hailey went and put her in her bassinet, turned the monitor on, and went into the bathroom. Then she shut the door, sat down, and sobbed. She got her shirt off and threw it in the hamper, then grabbed one of Jay's long sleeve shirts and pulled it on.
