(I got a request for Hailey and Jay dating in high school and one day Hailey isn't responding to Jay, so he goes to check on her. He sees Hailey's dad hurting her and jumps in to protect her)

Jay Halstead and Hailey Upton had known each other for years and finally started dating when they were sophomores in high school. They had been together for about 8 months and were now juniors.

The two of them spent as much time together as they could, mostly at Jay's house, the park, or the river walk. They never went to Hailey's house, though. Jay had met her parents multiple times, but he was only ever there to drop her off after school or pick her up for dates and bring her home after. He hadn't thought much of it at first, but then Hailey started expressing that she didn't want to go home and wanted to stay at his house or wherever they were for as long as possible. There were a few times over the summer that she'd been close to tears when it was time for her to go home. He'd asked her what was wrong but she was skilled at deflecting and changing the subject. He never pushed her to answer, though, he knew it would only upset her more.

It was October, and Hailey had been pretty quiet and on edge all week at school. She had been upset about going home after school on Thursday, and Jay felt bad. He was worried something bad was happening, she'd been so jumpy and quiet, and she kept flinching when anyone bumped into her or was too loud around her. And then she didn't show up for school Friday morning.

Jay had called and texted her multiple times throughout the day, begging her to at least let him know if she was okay. She never responded, she he drove to her house as soon as school let out.

When he pulled up, he saw her dad's car was there as he walked up to the front door. He was about to ring the doorbell when he heard yelling and things breaking, so he got down and moved to see in the window. He could just barely see in the living room, but it was enough to see Hailey and her dad.

"I TOLD YOU TO CLEAN THIS UP AN HOUR AGO, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU, YOU STUPID CHILD?!" He screamed, sloppily gesturing to something Jay couldn't see.

"I'm sorry! I was folding the laundry, dad, please stop!" Jay heard her cry.

"STOP WITH THE EXCUSES, HAILEY ANNE! YOU NEVER DO ANYTHING RIGHT, YOU ARE SO STUPID!" Jay heard a crash and changed position, seeing Hailey get knocked to the ground and then hit with a chord. He gasped.

"STOP!" He heard Hailey scream.

"SHUT UP!" Her dad yelled, lifted her up, and punched her so hard she fell from his grip and hit the floor, unconscious.

Jay was filled with rage and ran around back then burst through the door, catching Hailey's dad off guard. "LEAVE HER ALONE!" Jay yelled, punching him repeatedly.

Thankfully, Hailey's dad was too caught off guard and drunk to do much. He quickly passed out and Jay turned to Hailey.

"Hailey, Hails, wake up. Please wake up!" He begged, looking at the bruises she was covered in and the bleeding welts on her back and side from the belt.

Hailey stirred and flinched away from Jay, terrified she'd be hurt again. "Hailey, it's Jay, you're okay. Everything is okay. Can I pick you up?" He asked.

Hailey opened her eyes and registered it was in fact her boyfriend and she would be okay. She nodded and began to cry from fear, pain, embarrassment, and relief. Jay carefully lifted her up and carried her to his car. Once she was settled, he drove around the corner and looked at her. She was crying and holding a wad of napkins to her bleeding nose.

"Do you want to go to the hospital?" He asked gently.

"No, please no. I don't think anything is broken, and I don't want to deal with questions. Please don't make me," she begged him, the panic evident in her tone and face.
