Jay woke up disoriented and feeling like he'd been hit by multiple buses and then ran over several times. It was dark, he was on the couch, and he was freezing. He'd laid down when he got home from work because he didn't feel amazing, but now he felt like death.

He managed to get his phone and saw it was just after 10 PM, and Hailey was almost home from girls night at Molly's. He wanted to tell her not to come, but he didn't have the chance to finish the text before she walked in.

"Jay?" She called as she took her shoes off.

"Ugh," he made a noise in response and Hailey was concerned as she rounded the corner and saw him on the couch.

"Are you okay?!" She asked as she ran over to him. Jay was pale, sweating, and looked absolutely horrible.

"Fine," he grimaced as he began to cough.

"Jay Alexander Halstead, you are not fine. Cut the crap, what's wrong? You were okay when we left work five hours ago," Hailey called his bluff and used her "no nonsense" voice.

"Fine. Everything hurts, I'm cold, my head may explode, throat hurts, I think I got hit by a bus," he relented and Hailey felt triumphant that he'd given in so easy.

"When did this start?" She felt his forehead and frowned. He was burning up.

"I don't know. I had a little headache at the end of the day so I laid down when I got home. Next thing I know, I'm like this. I fell asleep at some point and woke up like five minutes before you walked in," he explained.

"I'm sorry, babe. Come on, let's get you into bed, take your temperature, and get you some medicine," Hailey instructed as she helped him up.

Jay groaned as his headache got worse. This was bad. He hadn't been this sick in a long time. Hailey helped him to his room and sat him on the bed so she could get him some pajama pants and a tshirt.

"Can you get changed?" She asked, rubbing Jay's arm.

"Yeah," he coughed and she left the room to get a thermometer, meds, and Gatorade.

Jay was in his pajamas and under the covers when she came back. She frowned, this wasn't like Jay at all and she was worried. She'd never seen him sick.

"Hey, open your mouth," Hailey said softly and Jay opened it. She stuck the thermometer in and waited for it to beep.

"102.3, Jay," she sighed and kissed his head.

"Great," he grumbled, Jay absolutely hated getting sick.

"Here, take these, and this cough medicine. Then drink half of this Gatorade and go to sleep, I'm gonna go shower super quick," she told him as she got the ibuprofen and delsym ready.

"Kay," Jay did everything and shut his eyes, hoping he'd miraculously feel better in the morning.

Hailey showered and got ready for bed then she got in next to Jay and frowned. He looked horrible and she was worried as she tried to fall asleep.

Hailey woke up to fast footsteps and gagging. She shot out of bed and followed the sound into the bathroom, where she found Jay throwing up.

"It's okay, babe. I'm here," she comforted him in her groggy state, rubbing his back as he heaved violently.

Jay couldn't help but start to cry as he heaved. It hurt like hell and he wanted it to stop. When he did finish, he collapsed into Hailey and tried to stop crying.

"It's okay, babe. You can cry if you need to," Hailey soothed as she wiped his face with a damp washcloth.

Jay cried quietly as Hailey flushed the toilet and helped him up to brush his teeth. When he finished, she led him back to his bed and hugged him tight as she rubbed his back.
