A collection of one shots of upstead fluff and comfort between our favorite couple. Might mostly be sickfics, or a bunch of different comfort fics too, I haven't decided yet. I've already got some ideas, but requests are welcome! I mostly write Hail...
(Emma is almost 3 and happens to be Hailey and Jay's little escape artist.) (Based on events with a kiddo I babysit!!!) (PLEASE READ: UNLESS a request is about CURRENT episodes of PD, requests are TEMPORARILY CLOSED until the new season airs. I have over 50 requests to do and am going to try to do a lot of them this summer, but I will be nannying and taking 2 classes, as well as doing some other stuff. So, until i get caught up, requests unrelated to the remaining episodes of the season will not be accepted, and the day after the finale airs, requests will be CLOSED) —— Although Jackson was a rambunctious child, Emma deemed herself the mischievous Halstead child at an early age. She wasn't bad behaved necessarily, but when it came to certain things, she was a trouble maker. Sometimes, it could be entertaining.
Hailey and Jay were asleep one night when Hailey heard a sound downstairs. She dismissed it at first but then she heard it again and sat up, causing Jay to stir.
"What's wrong?" He asked sleepily.
"I hear a noise," Hailey whispered. Jay sat up and listened, and they heard it again.
Hailey got up and opened the door to their room and walked out towards the main living area and kitchen with her flashlight on. She froze when she spotted the source of the noise, which hadn't noticed her yet.
"Jay!" Hailey whispered and motioned him forward.
There, on the kitchen Island/counter, sat their almost 3 year old. She had pushed a chair over and used it to climb the counter, and had her hand in the cookie jar as she munched away.
"Emma, what are you doing?" Hailey asked, accidentally startling the toddler. Jay turned on some lights and Emma jumped but started smiling and held out a cookie.
"I was hungwy, mama! Wanna cookie? Daddy, wanna cookie?" She held two cookies out for them and they laughed.
"Thank you for sharing, baby. We're okay. How about we put those cookies back, get some water, and go back to bed, hm?" Hailey suggested and Emma frowned but did as she was asked.
Jay lifted her up and set her by the sink to wash her hands and face off. "Did you enjoy the cookies?"
"Yummy, daddy!" Emma grinned, making them laugh again.
"Good, but no more cookies in the middle of the night, okay," he said and she nodded with a frown.
"Kay, daddy," she huffed, clearly disappointed.
"Alright, little miss, can you show us how you got down here?" Hailey asked, setting her youngest on the floor.
"Uh huh!" Emma walked to the stairs and led them up to her room. She climbed into her crib, something they did not know she could do, then climbed out.
"Like that!" She looked so proud of herself.
"Wow, you're so strong! But we need you to stay in your crib, baby. You could have fallen down the stairs and been hurt bad," Hailey said and Emma started crying.
"I'm sowwy, mama!" She sobbed, reaching up as she grabbed one of her taggies to suck on.
"Shhh, Emma Lynn, mama's not mad. Daddy and I just don't want you to get hurt, we want you safe," Hailey explained, looking to Jay for help.
"Mama's right, baby girl. We're not mad. You're not in trouble," he soothed, rubbing Emma's back.
Emma calmed down and they got her settled back into her crib before going back to bed. —— Two days later, or nights really, they woke up to a small person climbing into their bed. "What's wrong?" Jay asked, not sure if it was Oakley or Jackson yet.
"Seep wif you an mama." Emma. Jay sat up, as did Hailey.
"Emma, why are you out of your crib?" He asked.
"Seep wif you an mama," she repeated. Hailey sighed and let Emma get between them.
The toddler quickly fell asleep and they both grabbed their phones. "Nat mentioned something about a mesh tent to put over the crib. I'm buying one. She's too crazy of a sleeper for a big girl bed."
"Will mentioned the same thing," Jay said, searching it. They found one on amazon and ordered it to be delivered the next day.
The next evening, they got it put on Emma's crib and made a big deal about how cool it was when she got mad.
"Emmy, I wish I had one of these!" Oakley exclaimed, noticing how mad her sister was getting.
"Yeah, me too! Your bed is way better than our beds!" Jackson said.
Hailey and Jay could not be more proud of their older kids in that moment. They never ceased to amaze them.
Emma seemed to take the bait. "Weally?" She asked, looking from Oakley to Jackson.
"Really! If I got to sleep in my own tent, I would be so happy. But it doesn't work on my bed, or Jackson's. Just yours, which makes your bed special!" Oakley explained and Emma lit up.
"My bed is special?" She asked, intrigued.
"Yup! So special!"
"We literally just told her that and she glared at me," Hailey whispered to Jay.
"Apparently our opinion already doesn't matter, she started young," Jay whispered back.
Jackson and Oakley got Emma excited about the tent, and bedtime went well that night. Plus, Emma wasn't able to escape. Yet.
It took her 4 months to figure out how to unzip the tent from the inside. She was definitely their little escape artist.
(This is what I'm talking about)
