(I got a request for Oakley getting sick at 3 months and having a high fever and screaming nonstop. Hailey blames herself, Jay tries to comfort her and stay calm even though he's also freaking out.)

Oakley Mae Halstead was three and a half months old. She was already getting her first tooth and sleeping completely through the night. She was constantly smiling and giggling, and she was a relatively easy baby. She had Hailey's bright blue eyes, blonde hair, and dimples, but she had Jay's coloring and looked a lot like him. They loved being parents.

Hailey's maternity leave had ended a couple weeks before, and Oakley was in daycare at a preschool. Hailey was on the fence about going back to work or not, but had decided to go back and try it out for a little while. Voight said she could cut back or take time if she needed to, and he'd keep her spot open or only bring her in if they desperately needed someone else.

Jay and Hailey were looking at leads on their computers when Hailey's phone rang. Her eyes widened when she saw the name and answered.

"This is Hailey Halstead," she said as Jay watched her, confused. At work she still went by Upton, so he wasn't sure who would be calling her for her to answer that way.

"What? When? I'm on my way. Thank you," she hung up and stood quickly, grabbing her jacket.

"Hails, what's up?" Jay asked as she started for Voight's office.

"Oakley's sick," she said as she entered the office.

She ran out a few minutes later and sprinted down the stairs, Jay following her. "Hailey, wait, what's happening?!" He called after her as they ran through the lobby, ignoring Platt's yelling after them.

"Oakley's got a fever. She's spitting up and her nose is running. She was perfectly fine this morning, I swear. I don't know what happened!" Hailey was growing upset, her lip trembling as she waved her hands around.

Jay noticed her breathing pick up and stepped closer to her and hugged her. "Take a deep breath, it's okay. Kids get sick, it could be because she's teething. We'll go get her, do you want me to drive?" He asked, watching as she calmed down a little.

"Yeah," she handed him the keys and he sped towards the preschool.

Hailey ran in and to the front desk. "I'm Hailey Halstead, I got a call that Oakley Halstead is sick," she said quickly.

"Yes, let me get her," the receptionist went and got Oakley, who was fussing. Hailey reached for her daughter immediately and held her to her chest, swaying and rubbing her back.

The infant cuddled into her mom's chest and grabbed her shirt, still hiccuping occasionally from her cries. Jay reached over and slipped the pale pink pacifier into her mouth then felt her forehead. She was definitely running a fever.

"She took half a bottle an hour ago but most of it came back up. She hasn't slept, she was too worked up. I'm so sorry," the teacher apologized.

"Thank you," Jay took Oakley's bag from her and signed her out then walked with Hailey to get her car seat from the area they were kept in. It was much easier to carry the seat inside than take Oakley in and out while it was still in the car.

"I don't want to put her down, she's calm," Hailey said when Jay went to take Oakley to put her in the carrier.

"Okay, how about we just go to the car and you can hold her a bit longer, then we'll go home?" Jay suggested, he could see how frazzled and worried Hailey was about their baby girl. He was worried, too. Other than having a slight runny nose when she was getting her first tooth, she'd never been sick before.

Hailey nodded and they walked to the car. Jay put Oakley's bag in the floorboard of the back passenger side and set her seat in the base. Hailey got in the back seat and looked down at Oakley, who was half asleep, drooling on Hailey. Oakley chose that moment to sneeze, getting snot all over Hailey.
