It's funny. Never before has Tubbo seen flowers grow on a person. He's never seen flowers grow along arms and the thorns dig into skin. He's never even heard of it. Until this strange phenomenon started to happen to him. They were white flowers - a tiny sprinkle of pink tulips.
Tubbo found it strange.
The flowers had started growing the day his husband had passed. Maybe it was some strange disease that only affected widows perhaps. Hopefully it's go away.
He started trimming the flowers once he had seen thorns. But trimming them wouldn't work. Trimming them only made them grow two times thicker and with more beautiful thorns that pricked Tubbo.
They hurt. They were painful. But still Tubbo paid them no attention. He merely only told himself they would disappear - or even better - they didn't exist at all.
About a month into his husband having being killed, the stress of trying to track down his son was literally dragging him down, laying heavy weights on him as he laid in bed.
The thorns and flowers only grew more, providing Tubbo only sleepless nights as all he could ever feel was pain. The pain of thorns hurting him.
He started laughing hysterically one night when he remembered how he told Ranboo he never did enjoy having a thorns enchantment on his armour and how Ranboo always remembered that when they made him new armour.
That laughing only turned to longing for tears to shed. He.. missed Ranboo. and the thorns only dug in even harsher.
Another month had passed and Tubbo spent holidays that he and Ranboo talked sleepless nights about. How they both promised to spend them together as a happy family with their son. How they both would be happy, but...
It didn't happen.
And the pain only hurt more. Flowers had started to grow over Tubbo's eyes, only covering his blind eye now. The thorns hurt a shit ton, but he ignored it. No one could even seen the Flowers under over his eyes anyways. His hair hid his eyes.
He.. didn't know why he kept his hair long anymore. He kept it for Ranboo when they were alive. He knew they didn't like people staring so hiding his eyes helped him adore Ranboo without them knowing. Ranboo was long gone..
And was never coming back.
Tubbo had heard word that Eret known where his son was however so.. Maybe he'll be able to have at least his son back...
Tubbo could've sworn he felt strong pain in his chest along his journey on getting his son back. Almost as if the thorns that made his body grow numb were now growing inside his lungs.. like they were growing around his heart and squeezing. It felt so painful. Like he was dying.
Oh how he wished he could die... It would help relief the now numb pain he had to live with. The pain gave him awful dizzy spells. Thankfully he had gotten good at hiding the pain. As a soldier - and a president - he's gotten very good at hiding the pain.
No one could've even guessed the flowers growing weren't fake.
Something.. unusual had happened however when he was getting his son to his late husband's other home. The pain was... going away. It was getting easier to breath and the pain in his chest was fadiing. The thorns digging into his arms and even his eyes were growing faint.
Maybe he was dying and his body was growing numb to it all, but.. something in him knew he wasn't dying. In fact he was becoming more alive.
He could feel the cold breeze of the artic as he slowly brought his son home. He could've even sworn the flowers and thorns were dying on his arms. He didn't even know what was happening until...
He looked up when he heard Techno menioned seeing something unusual in Ranboo's home. A... ghost.. looking out of the window. Tubbo had tensed as soon as he saw faded green and red eyes. A flash of black and white as it went out the front door.
Tubbo froze up when he could hear the familiar but oh so cold voice of his husband... Their familiar happy little "Michael" when they saw their son. The empty happy smile on their face as he looked over at Tubbo who could only stand with his mouth agape.
Was it... this ghost of his husband who caused the pain..? Or was he so stuck thinking his husband was dead and didn't love him that.. he tricked his own mind into suffering...?
The pain had gone away the moment he came close to Ghostboo. The very moment. And there was no pain when he saw their smile. Their cold smile that could almost look... loving..
The happy high voice that Tubbo always heard his husband spewing out when they were alive. The stupid.. high.. voice that could only make him fall because the other male genuinely loved his son..
Tubbo wished he couldn't feel anything again. Because now he felt warm but sad but angry and all of these million emotions. Hell he was still going through the stages. and seeing Ranboo - even if they're fucking dead - was fucking up his mind.
And Ghostboo showing him that same stupid small acts of love. The stupid pink tulip that Tubbo loved even through with them causing him pain. He still found them beautiful.
Tubbo didn't like it.
He didn't like it at all.
