Rosalie grazed the tip of her index finger over the surface of her engagement ring. A smile formed on her lips as her skin made friction with the diamonds, and her heart tingled inside of her chest. There was just something about Lee-something that made her feel things that she thought she'd never feel again. She wanted to spend the rest of her life with Lee, and maybe even have a family someday.
Rosalie smiled as she looked up at her beautiful lover. Lee walked over and leaned against the bar next to where Rosalie sat. A smile sprouted immediately on Rosalie's face as she looked into those grey eyes.
"Darling, are you taking me on a date?"
"That's for me to know and for you to find out."
Rosalie took a deep inhale and placed her hand on Lee's cheek.
"What's up your sleeve, darling?"
Those grey eyes sparkled teasingly. And a playful smirk graced Lee's lips. She trailed her fingers along Rosalie's thigh and towards her hip, before stopping at her waist and gripping firmly. As her nails dug into the woman's flesh, a moan escaped those gorgeous lips, sending a gratifying feeling to rush through her veins.
I, indeed, have an effect on her.
"Darling, you're turning me on."
Rosalie whispered, a blush creeping onto her cheeks as Pennelope looked at her from behind the bar.
"That's the point, sweetheart." Rosalie sank her teeth into her pulp, bottom lip and sucked in a deep breath. She looked into her lover's eyes with anxious desire pouring out of every inch of her body. "You, my love, should follow me." The young woman didn't question her fiancée as she was led to a two-seater table and Lee pulled a chair out for her. Rosalie arched her brow as she took the seat, and Lee headed to the other and sat down. "I thought we'd have a nice dinner."
Lee gave the woman in front of her a bashful smile as she looked around the room. There were only a few occupied tables.
"Sounds lovely. It feels a lot like our first date."
They both smiled and Lee stretched her hand across the table for Rosalie to take.
"I might not be the most romantic type. But I do love spending time with you. I'm sorry that my schedule doesn't permit much of that."
Rosalie knew that her work schedule weighed heavy on their relationship as well, but they always found a way to make their relationship work.
"I've always loved your dedication, my little chef."
They talked about Rosalie's desire to take a trip back home. Lee enjoyed listening to the adventures of Rosalie and her mother. They'd be mistaken for sisters, if it wasn't for the age difference.
Rosalie wagged her eyebrows as she noticed Pedro coming over to the table with a serving tray in his hand.
"Your fiancée pre-ordered your meals." Pedro didn't usually serve meals himself, but Lee probably put him up to it. Rosalie did enjoy seeing Pedro sporting as a waiter though. "Enjoy, my two favorite people in the world. I'd appreciate a fifty percent tip."
Pedro walked off with a chuckle and Lee shook her head in amusement.
"He thinks he's funny when he's not."
Rosalie mumbled as she looked at what Lee ordered for her.
Curried chicken and white rice.
"You can be funny. You do know that I prefer American cuisine, right?"
"Yeah I know. But I thought I would change it up a bit. Pedro said he has been practicing and I decided for him to finally serve us what he has been working on."
"Why is he practicing Indian dishes?"
Lee gave her lover a cheeky grin before looking down at the meal in front of her. For sure, it wasn't something that she ate growing up in the United States, but it was definitely something that she'd try at least once in her lifetime.
"Yeah, well, I'm thinking of adding Indian styled dishes to the menu. Mix it up a bit."
"Think that's a good idea?"
Rosalie picked up her fork and took a bite of the meal.
Damn, this is amazing.
"I'll wait for you to answer your own question."
"Dammit. How the bloody hell does he know how to cook this and I can't? I'm the one quarter Indian here."
"He's the chef, remember."
"Yeah, and you're a chef but you only know how to prepare Northern dishes. How the bloody hell did he learn this?"
"Practice makes perfect, sweetheart."
"Damn. He's good. You might want to raise his pay."
"Hold on now. I think you're a little too impressed."
"I don't know but I'm more into this meal than I am into you."
Lee watched Rosalie as she ate. The smile never faltering on the woman's face made a warm sensation settle inside of her chest. She appreciated the little things that made Rosalie happy. And thanked the heavens that the beauty was hers to keep. They ate in comfortable silence, ever so often, looking over at each other with a smile.
"You think it's too early for wine?"
Rosalie shook her head and pursed her lips. She'd indulged in a few glasses while talking to Pennelope at the bar.
"I already had a few glasses."
"Really? It's only a few minutes past noon, sweetheart."
Lee gave her fiancée a questioning look over, knowing that she didn't like alcohol as a casual beverage to consume.
"Yeah, is that okay?"
Rosalie arched her brow, a little annoyed that Lee was questioning her choices.
"Of course, sweetheart. I was just wondering."
The brunette pressed her lips together and ran the palm of her hand over the table cloth.
"Dessert?"
The young woman nodded and clasped her hands on top of the table. Lee called Jennivine over and asked her to retrieve a slice of fudge chocolate cake and a slice of Strawberry cheesecake from the kitchen.
"Which one is for me, darling?"
Rosalie ran the tip of her tongue across her bottom lip before licking her top one in the center. She knew that she probably had a foul breath from eating the curry, but it was worth it.
"We'll share as always, sweetheart."
"Good."
Lee smiled as she made sure to give Rosalie all of her attention, and was given the same courtesy in return.
"Here you go."
Jennivine placed both of the desserts on the center of the table, each on either side of the vase of flowers. Rosalie picked up her fork, took a piece of the cake and placed it inside of her mouth. Chewing slowly to savor the taste, she nodded in satisfaction as she took another bite.
After dessert, Rosalie headed to her studio to finish up on a piece, and bumped into Jennivine.
"Hey there."
Rosalie waved as she grabbed the keys from her pocket. Jennivine looked at her movements intently, and Rosalie found it a bit annoying.
"Hi. Uh, Blair was wondering if you guys wanted to have a double date. I'm not sure why she..."
Jennivine hesitated but Rosalie smiled. She'd enjoy spending time with Blair-a new addition to her friend list.
"Sounds great. Give her my number?"
Jennivine handed Rosalie her phone to insert her contact. Rosalie hadn't seen Blair since the night of thunder, and had been wondering how she'd been doing.
Rosaline handed Jennivine her phone back and placed her key into the door, but Jennivine still didn't move.
"Is it a storeroom?"
Jennivine questioned, making Rosalie frown. She disliked nosy people-and Jennivine was being quite nosy.
"You can say that. Yes."
Rosalie clenched her jaw and waited for Jennivine to leave, and after the blonde realized, she quickly hurried off without a second thought.
