Kaitlyn and Charlotte only wanted those close to them to be at their wedding. Sadly, Charlotte's mother wasn't one of the lucky few. But she had a few cousins and friends that supported her sexuality, and were thrilled to attend her wedding.
"We're actually doing it," Charlotte hadn't gotten much sleep, and was feeling extremely anxious. Unlike Kaitlyn, she hadn't been married before, and never thought that the day would actually come.
"Getting the jitters, sweetheart?" Charlotte looked at the woman next to her and smiled.
"I can't wait to tie you down and put you on a leash," she grinned, causing Kaitlyn to roll her eyes.
"I thought that we're going to try the poly thing, see how it works," Charlotte's eyes narrowed, "oh, don't kill me, I'm just kidding."
"You better be," Kaitlyn reached for Charlotte's hand and slid closer to her on the bed.
"I am. I'm almost sixty, and my sex drive isn't what it use to be. I can barely satisfy you, I can't have another lover."
Charlotte nudged Kaitlyn's shoulder, "so if you were younger, you'd want to see other people?"
"Probably," Kaitlyn shrugged, "In my last marriage, I thought that love meant fidelity. But it's far more complicated than that. If Allen had been open to me about his desires, not lied and used me, we probably still wouldn't be married, he's a dick regardless."
"And your point is?" Charlotte wasn't sure what Kaitlyn was trying to explain.
"I avoided relationships for almost twenty years, then I met you. If I sleep with someone else, it doesn't mean that I love or desire you any less."
"But I don't want that-want you to sleep with someone-"
"I'm not going to."
"You just said-"
"Forget what I just said. Just know that my libido is strong enough for only you, and you wear me out, woman."
"Um, okay," Charlotte rolled over and sat up on the bed.
"I didn't mean to offend you, Char. I'm sorry. I'm not sure what I was trying to explain."
"I believe in monogamy. It's not because I want to control you, it's just that-"
"I get it, and as I said, I'm not going to sleep with anyone else."
"But you would if you felt like it," Charlotte closed her eyes. She wasn't sure why she was making a big deal out of it.
"I don't know what to tell you, Char. To be honest with you, I haven't been attracted to anyone else since I met you. Maybe if you didn't have such a hold on my heart, then I'd be able to be poly."
"So you're saying that I turned you monogamous?"
"I think that you're more than enough for me. I'm satisfied, that's why we're getting married, right?"
"I'm satisfied too," Kaitlyn moved beside Charlotte and intertwined their hands.
"I promise not to sleep with anymore bellboys, or waitresses, or baristas-"
"Okay, I get it. I trust you."
"Good. I might not say this a lot, because it's the most overused word in everyone's vocabulary, and because my daughter says it a trillion times a day to her wife," Kaitlyn brushed her fingertips against Charlotte's cheek, while tightening their intertwined hands, "I love you, Charlotte."
"So much build up to those three words," Charlotte leaned in, "I love you too," Kaitlyn cupped Charlotte's cheek as the space between their lips disappeared.
